Kenda Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - AM35351DX Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at Today we're going to take a look at this Kenda Karrier ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range D mounted on this 12 inch white spoke steel wheel, with the four and four inch bolt pattern. Now this tire we have some ways ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and campers. I'm gonna zoom in, we're gonna talk about the wheel. It's a nice sturdy steel wheel, has the spoke design to it, and it's made by Dexstar.

This is a nice white powder coat finish over an e-coat primer for excellent corrosion resistance. And the wheel does use the beveled stud holes to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts. The tire that's mounted on this wheel is a Kenda Karrier radial tire, uses double steel belts, full nylon plies to combine for superior function and long life. And it uses a premium rubber compound material, which will help disperse heat.

And as we mentioned, it's a radial applied tire, so it is great for highway use. If you look closely at the tread, they use a nice automotive grade computer generated tread that has sipes. When I say sipes, that's the cuts in the tread blocks. And what that does is it breaks up the water underneath the tire to improve traction during wet snowy or icy conditions. This is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire.

Has the sturdy sidewalls so they can handle heavy loads. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on any other vehicles. This assembly does meet the DOT, department of transportation specifications. And the wheel made by Dexstar is made in the USA. Few specs on this, the diameter of the wheel is 12 inches and that's measured inside the inside.

The width on just the wheel is four inches wide. Bolt pattern on this wheel is a four on four inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs in this case, four. It's pretty simple because the lug holes are right across from each other. So you just get a ruler and measure from the center, pick either hole, measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this it'll measure four inches. So it's a four on four inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. Weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 1,250 pounds. And the pilot hole diameter. that's the large hole here in the center, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is 2.84 inches. How we mentioned the tire is size, and that'll be stamped on the sidewall ST for special trailer 145R12, The R means that it is a radial tire. Section width is 5.7 inches. Our overall diameter from the bottom to the top where it's inflated, it's 21.3. This is a load range D which means it's an 8 ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 1,220 pounds at 65 PSI. And the final thing I want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with speed ratings on them. And they stamp that on the sidewall of the tire with a letter designation. And where you will find that, is you just look around the wheel here and you'll see the size that we just went over with the tire size right here. And then right after it, there's number for the load index. And then the letter M at the end of that, that letter M stands for the speed rating M, which is 81 miles per hour. That should do it for the review on this Kenda Karrier ST145R12s radial trailer tire in a load range D on this 12 inch wide spoke steel wheel with the four on four inch bolt pattern..
