Kodiak Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Rotor - KHR1389D Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Kodiak 13 inch Hub and Rotor Dacromet Finish, has the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern with the 9/16 diameter studs, and it's for a 7,000 pound to 8,000 pound axle. Now, this is a nice single-piece hub and rotor assembly, makes the installation easier, whether you're retrofitting or upgrading from drum brakes. They do use a nice machine process, which will minimize any runout or warping, and you can see the one-piece design is a balanced unit, provides a nice, smooth ride. What's nice about it, it doesn't let any contaminants get between the hub or the rotor, it's all one piece. If you noticed as I turn it here, you can see it is a vented design, this will effectively dissipate the heat, preventing any heat related damage to the rotor.

Now, the wheel studs you can see, the industry standard bearing races that are in here, and the screw-on polycarbonate oil cap are all included. If you noticed, the studs are pre-installed, the bearing races for the outer bearing, and if I spin it around, show you for the inner bearing, they are also all pre-installed, and then the oil cap, you can just screw right into place. Now, the bearings and the seals are not included. What I do recommend is on this product page, if you go to the bottom of the product page, it will list the bearings and seal part numbers that are recommended to fit in this rotor. Now, this is a cast iron construction, ensures a nice, favorable friction coefficient for necessary stopping power.

As I mentioned, it does have a Dacromet plating over the whole part, this provides superior corrosion resistance for fresh water or saltwater use, it does meet a 300 to 400 hour salt spray rating. Again, a few specs on this, the axle capacity this fits is 7,000 pound to 8,000 pound axles, the wheel size that'll bolt onto this is 16 inches and larger, bolt pattern, 8 on 6 1/2 inches, wheel stud diameter, 9/16 of an inch, and as we mentioned, the rotor diameter is 13 inches. But that should do it for the review on this Kodiak 13 inch Hub and Rotor with the Dacromet Finish, 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern with the 9/16 inch diameter studs for the 7,000 pound to 8,000 pound axles..
