Kwikee RV and Camper Steps - Motorhome - LC3747453 Review

Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the Kwikee 28 Series RV Step. This is a single step, and it is the complete kit. So, it comes with the wiring, the switch kit, as well as the motor, light, and everything else that you're going to need to add this into your RV. If you had an electric step before but maybe it wasn't Kwikee brand but this matches with the specs that you need, this is going to give you that complete kit to get that put into your vehicle. You may not need the wiring and the switch kit if you're replacing an existing Kwikee step.

You should probably have those already in your RV, and even if you didn't use this brand before, you might still have those wiring components. But sometimes other manufacturers don't always work together, so have that complete kit to make sure that everything is going to work as it should. As far as the specs with this, we'll go over the measurements in just a minute. Again, as you can see it as a single step. Some of the safety features with this is that it will retract if it meets or makes contact with anything as it's coming out, so you don't have to worry about it running down the motor if it makes contact with a pylon or something like that. Also, the whole point of having an electric step is so that it can open and close as you open and close that door. It comes out whenever you open the door, comes back in whenever you close the door.

A couple of other safety features that go along with that will be that it does have a sensor to allow it to do that automatically, so you don't have to worry about toggling any switches to get those steps to come out. They're going to automatically deploy as that door opens and closes. Now, whenever you're at the campsite, you probably don't want to wait for this step to come in and out each time. You probably want to leave it out the whole time so you can quickly get in and out. There is an override switch. That's the switch kit that comes with it to allow you to do that.

There's another safety feature so that whenever you turn on the ignition for your RV, it will automatically sense that and bring the step back in no matter what, even if you do have that override engaged. So, don't have to worry about that step staying out whenever you go to start your RV and head off down the road. It's not going to be sticking out there and get damaged or anything like that. So, those are going to be the main features of this.Let's jump into more of the specs and really the measurements to make sure that this is the right fit for you. Again, this is that single step.

As far as the overall height for the step itself, this is going to be the distance from the top of that mounting plate to the bottom-most portion, and that is 9 5/8 of an inch. Whenever it's folded up nice and compact, it's about 6 inches. The overall width, which goes from the widest point on either side, that's 24 3/4 inches. Then the bolt pattern up at the top for where we mounted in place, there's only one set of holes on this particular step, and those measure 22 inches apart this way and then 20. Or excuse me, 6 1/2 inches going front to back. The step size is 23 5/8 inches, and then front to back, it's 10 1/2 inches for that step so nice wide step to get into your RV. It does have a 300-pound capacity, also comes with the light installed there. Now that light isn't super bright. You might be able to see it just a little bit mounted up underneath. It's that orange thing there. The light isn't super bright, so it won't really shine out very brightly. But in a really low-light situation, if it's at night, it will help a little bit. Any light helps to see that step, especially since it's black on black, and it can be kind of hard to see. The other nice thing is that it does have this high visibility yellow strip there in the nonslip pad to make sure that it is more visible as well. But that's pretty much it, as far as our look at the Kwikee Electric 28 Series Step. Again, comes with that switch kit and wiring to make sure that everything is there for your application. So, I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right step for you. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
