Lionshead Tires and Wheels - Tire Only - LHCK105 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Castle Rock ST 185 80 R13 radial trailer tire in a load range D. Now, this is a radial tire. It's great for highway use. It is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon plies. They also use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the whole tire to help prevent tread separation. They do offer the tread wear indicators like you'll see on your passenger car tires that make it very easy to see your tread depth and how the tire is wearing.

If you look at the tread blocks on here, the cuts in it are the openings here. These are called sipes. The siping on these tread channels will help channel water away from underneath your tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. This is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer, has sturdy sidewalls so it can handle heavy loads and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles. They do offer a complimentary roadside assistance for two years on this tire.

Flat tire service is available 24/7 anywhere in the U S Canada or Puerto Rico. This tire does meet the DOT department of transportation and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standard specs. A few specs on this, this tire is designed to fit on a wheel size of 13 inches by 4 1/2 inches wide, 13 by 5 inches wide and 13 by 5 1/2 inches wide. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 185 80 R13. The R designates it's a radial tire.

Section width on this tire is 7.2 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 24.6. This tire is a load range D which means it's an eight ply rated tire so it has a maximum load capacity of 1,710 pounds at 65 PSI.And the last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with speed ratings on them and a speed rating is stamped on the tire by a letter designation. And where that's at is if you go right by where the load index is shown, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter L at the end. Speed rating L will stand for 75 mile per hour speed rating.

But that should do it for the review on the Castle Rock ST 185 80 R13 radial trailer tire in a load range D.
