MORryde RV and Camper Steps - Motorhome - MR88RR Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Morryde's rides step above fold down steps for 23 and three quarter inch to 26 and one quarter inch RV doorframes. Now, these are manually operated RV steps makes it very easy to get into and out of your travel trailer or fifth wheel, they simply fold down for use or you can fold them back up for travel. They do have a grab handle right here on the second step from the top here, which is nice, provides a nice handhold when you're maneuvering the steps. So, when you go to put them up in storage you just grab that handle, push them up the middle latch into place, and then to pull them down, you just grab that handle, pull on them, you twist your handle to release the latch and then you'll pull with that handle and drop them all the way down to be able to use them. Now, the steps will lift up and lock into place and they'll stow inside your entry door when they're not being used.

This will help keep the steps protected from the elements during travel, provides a nice alternative to installing them under the door cause it eliminates the need to have to cut into the metal skirting of the RV. Now, a couple of things I do want to talk about is first these hinge plates. The hinge plates right up here is what will attach to the top frame here and that's what attaches your steps to your RV. What's nice about this is the pins in them. You can see these little tabs sticking out.

If you pull that pin out, that'll release the steps from those hinge plates and where that comes into play is if by chance you're going to store your RV at a tight storage lot where there's no room between each one so you can't drop the steps down. Before you store it what you'll want to do is take the steps off. So, to make it simple, you just pull the pin off on this side on the other side and it'll release it from those hinge plates. The hinge plates will stay attached to your RV. And then when you're ready to attach it, just line it up put your pins back in and your ready to go.

Also wanted to show you, this is the latch, when we talk about we lift it up and it latches closed, you can see the latch, there's a handle right in the middle here and if you turn that handle you can see the white tab right here in the middle will retract in. So, that releases it from the doorframe. So, when you twist that or release it and then you can pull it down. The nice thing about it is when you go to lift these up to lock it in the stow position you don't have to use that handle because these tabs have an angle to it. You just push it up and it'll automatically latch it into place and hold it up.

Now, the other ones we want to talk about is the leg extensions. There's one on this end, one on this side. What's nice about this, these will create a nice sturdy connection with the ground to eliminate bounce, reduces the potential for slipping or falling during use. And it helps the stairs remain stable on uneven terrain because each leg is independent side to side. You can pull out this one as much as you need. And this one with as much as you need on this side. And if you notice on the bottom they have these rotating feet that'll also automatically adjust to where it's going up against. Now, to release, to put them back into store they have these quick release triggers on each side. You just push in on that and it allow you to retract it all the way up into the steps and then you go to store it. Now, what's nice is when you extend these out you don't have to push the release lever. You can just pull it out as far as you need on each side to where you need it. They will adjust in one inch increments, give you a total about 13 inches of adjustable length. Now, this is a four step assembly, has an extra deep top step for easy entry and exit. And if you notice on the left side there's these threaded inserts. There's two down here and there's two right up here. And what those are for is if you want to install a hand rail to this we do sell a hand rail separately on our website. It's part number MR73AR and it'll bolt right into those inserts and give you a hand rail if you need it. It is listed on this product page as a related product. The steps themselves on the top are a nice anti-slip design to give you excellent traction. It's a nice textured surface provides traction in wet or muddy conditions. And at the front of each step you can see has a nice non-slip tread tape to help prevent any slipping. These are aluminum steps, so they are rust-proof and scratch resistant, also makes them very lightweight. So, it makes lifting or lowering them virtually effortless. The very top here where the hinge plates are this is a powder coated steel frame. It is corrosion resistant. And what's nice about these steps is they are preassembled. So, when you get them, they're just like this all put together, makes it easier to install. All you have to do is mount the hinge plates to your vehicle. And they do include the mounting hardware for those hinge plates. There's a bag of the screws right there that you install these with. These steps are made in the USA. Now, a few measurements that you need are going to need to verify the fit of these stairs to your vehicle or to your RV. The entry height which is going to be measured from the ground to your door threshold to where the door you'd be entering it. So, the ground up to there, these steps will fit a 36 and a half inch to 42 inch entry height. The doorway width, these will fit a 23 and three quarter inch to 26 and one quarter inch wide doorway. Now, the dimension on the steps themselves the width of them will measure inside the inside. It's going to be 19 and a half inches. The top step we mentioned, the depth of it is deeper than the other three. So, it's going to be 10 and five eighths inches. The other three steps are going to be eight inches deep and the drop or rise of each step as you go up that distance, it's going to be right at eight inches. Now, the heights of these stairs when you do flip them up into the travel or stow position is going to be about 46 inches tall. And the weight capacity on them is, are 500 pounds. But, that should do it for the review on the Morryde's step above fold down steps for the 23 and three quarter inch to 26 and one quarter inch RV door frames..
