Review of Master Lock Locks ML312D

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Master Lock laminated steel padlock. Padlocks are designed to help secure your gear. It's going to feature a laminated steel lock body that's very strong and durable, as well as corrosion resistant. It's going to have a blue weather-resistant thermo-plastic shell. That's designed to help withstand the elements, it's going to protect against moisture, dirt and grime. It even says "tough under fire." It's a hardened steel shackle, it's going to do a great job at resisting cutting.

The unit's going to feature dual internal locking levers. It's going to provide extra pry resistance. It's going to use a 4 pin lock cylinder with steel tumblers, it's going to do a great job at resisting drilling and picking. It's got the nice little lock cover right there, just snaps over and it's going to keep dirt and moisture out of the core. It is going to come with two brass keys, both are keyed alike. To get it to an unlocked position, flip that open, place the key in, give it a turn and it pops it open.

Then you can just push that back down to move it to a locked position. Really nice, easy to use design. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick. If we take a look at the overall width, I'm going to measure down here at the bottom first. You can see how that flares out a little bit. That's going to be about 1 and 15/16ths of an inch and then the actual body is going to be about 1 and 3/4's of an inch wide.

The overall height measuring from very top, to very bottom we're looking at a height measurement of about 3 inches tall. When it comes to the thickness of the body, we're looking at about 1 inch thick. It's a little bit thicker right here in the center, so that's where we get the 1 inch measurement from. The shackle diameter is going to measure 5/16ths of an inch. Then we take a measurement of the shackle height, I'm measuring from the top of the body to the top of the shackle. That's going to give us a measurement of about 1 and 5/16ths of an inch to 1 and 3/8ths of an inch, right in that ballpark.

When it comes to the dimensions of the opening, that's the opening just right here underneath the shackle. Measuring the width opening first, that's going to give us a width opening pretty close to 5/8ths of an inch. I would say, to be safe about 9/16ths. The height of that opening, we're looking at an opening height of pretty close to 1 inch. It's also going to be covered with a limited lifetime warranty. The other thing I like about that thermo-plastic shell is it's got a rubber-like texture to it, so it also allows for a nice easy grip when it comes to handling the lock. That's going to do it for today's look at the Master Lock laminated steel padlock.
