Review of Maxxair RV Vents and Fans MA00-04002K

Today we're taking a look at the Maxxfan Plus roof vent with a 12 volt fan and thermostat. This roof vent with fan and thermostat moves air in and out of your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. The vent allows air to circulate while your RV remains locked and secured. The unit easily installs into any 14'' by 14'' opening. It features a 12 volt DC variable speed fan that has two modes of operation. So you have manual mode which gives you four speed options to let you increase or reduce airflow, and then you have auto mode which allows the fan to turn on and off based on the preset temperature of the built in thermostat. Also I want to point out it features a reversible fan that can either bring air in or exhaust air out, so that circulates air like the ceiling fan on the vent is closed. Now right here, this is what's going to be visible from inside your camper or RV.

A few neat features I want to point out, the interior trim piece or garnish is included. As you can see we have a bug screen, it's removable so you can easily clean it and maintenance the unit as needed. We have the multi blade design. So that's 10 blades and they're clear. The blade or the fan has a diameter of 12''.

And then right here we have our manual knob, that's how we raise and lower the lid.You can push that in to lock it or pull it out to unlock it and operate it. Over here we have our flash keypad control, so that's a nice design, just push button design. We have our on and off button, we have our in and out that reverses the fan direction, we have our auto button which you can hold that down to set to 78 degrees. Now when that LED is lit, you can use the plus and minus button to increase or decrease your temperature by one degree. So that's going to light to know where you're at, you hold that down, preset it to 78 and then adjust it as necessary from there. One degree increments.

Now when that is not lit, when that LED is not lit, then you can use the positive and negative button to go between the different fan speeds. So overall nice design, very easy to use, very functional. It's a two wire design; your white wire is your ground wire and your black wire is your power wire.It has a white color dome or lid that's made of high density polypropylene. The manual lift has two arms to support the dome, and keep it in the open position. So as you can see here it easily opens, you can see those two lift arms doing their job, very strong durable design.

Also it has the rubber weather seal that helps prevent leaks when the vent's closed. Again we got the bug screen, we got the fuse protected ball bearing motor that's sealed to keep out dust, dirt and moisture. We have the molded in mounting flange, it's constructed of U, excuse me, UV resistant ABS plastic. Nice smooth edges so it won't cut you during the installation. And we also have the built in mounting tabs on the flange that allow for no drill tool free installation of the fan vent cover which is sold separately. Now this is designed to fit, again into any 14'' by 14'' opening. It's designed to fit roofs with a thickness of 2'' to 6-12'' thick. This garnish can be trimmed if needed. It does walk you through how to do that in the instructions. Overall instructions outside the flange, is about 18-1/8 by 16-1/2''. When installed the vent extends above your roof by 3-3/4'' when closed, and 11-7/8 when open. Overall fan diameter is 12'', fan capacity up to 900 CFM, that's cubic feet per meter of airflow. And the power drill is five amps. It also comes with a hardware bag, it comes with all the necessary installation, screws and it comes with some butt connectors for making your wire connections. Now there's two different screws in this pack, you have your standard screws which are your exterior screws, and then you have screws that have a painted white head on it, and that's designed to be interior hardware to match that trim piece so that way it blends in and doesn't look that bad from the inside of your RV or camper. That's going to do it for today's look at the Maxxfan Plus roof vent with a 12 volt fan and built in thermostat.
