Review of Maxxair RV Vents and Fans MA00-04401M

Today we're taking a look at the MaxxAir MaxxFan, Mini Roof Vent with the 12 volt fan. The MaxxAir Mini Roof Vent with the included fan is designed to effectively more air in and out of your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. It features a 12 volt DC variable speed fan that has 4 speed options, so that's going to effectively exhaust air out, and circulate air like a ceiling fan, when the vent or the dome is fully closed. Now this is what's visible from on top of your RV. If we take a look at the underside, this is what's visible from inside your RV. The garnish right here has a really nice, clean design to it, makes it attractive from inside your RV.

That garnish, you can see that it does have a nice lip here. It's designed to fit roofs 1 inch to 6 1/2 inches thick, so that can be trimmed if needed. Now again, this is the portion that's visible from inside the RV. The fan, you can see the multi-blade design that has a diameter of 12 inches. It features the flush-mounted key pad right here. That's going to let you set the fan speed.

You have your fan on and off, and then you have 1, 2, 3, and 4 as far as your setting go, just a push button design. Overall really nice. Down here we have the manual control knob that let's us raise and lower the dome, and then over here we have the lock, so if that's in the lock position then the dome will not be able to open. If it's in the unlock position then we can use the manual knob to open the dome, so the lock feature is a really nice add-on to this unit. Removable screen for easy cleaning as well. Now I'm going to go ahead and operate it real quick, and we can see how it opens.

I want to point out that this unit features 2 manual lifting arms to support the dome and keep it open. Again, internally we have that manual knob and locking mechanism that lets you operate and secure the dome. Nice seal that goes around here, keeps out moisture when this is closed. We also have mounting tabs on the flange that allow for no-drill, tool free installation of the fan vent cover, which is sold separately. Then when you're ready to close it, you can use that knob, just rotate the other direction until it's all the way closed. As you can see, the dome on this is black in color.

Again, it fits roofs with a thickness of 1 inch to 6 1/2 inches. It installs easily into any 14 inch by 14 inch opening. When it's fully installed, the vent extends above the roof by 2 7/8 inches. Again, that overall fan diameter is 12 inches and the fan capacity is 900 CFM, that's cubic feet per minute of air flow. Then in your hardware kit, you get all the necessary screws for your installation. The screws that have the white head on them are designed to go on the underside of the unit, so they're painted white. That way, they match the color of the garnish, because that's going to be visible from within the RV, and then you also have your butt connectors right there for your wiring connections. It's a 2 wire design. Black is positive power, white is negative or ground. That's going to do it for today's look at the MaxxAir MaxxFan Mini Roof Vent with the 12 volt fan.
