Review of Optronics Trailer Lights STL211RB

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number STL211RB, this is the Optronics submersible trailer LED tail light. This goes through four functions. You're going to have your stop and turn signal, your tail light, and your back up light. Back up light's going to located on this side, that's going to eliminate the need for a separate light, so it combines those functions. The overall unit is going to be sonic-ally sealed so it's going to have the nice waterproof construction. LED's are going to make great replacements from incandescent lights.

They're going to last a lot longer. They're going to burn much brighter, and they're going to be much more efficient. You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or filaments. It's going to have a nice poly-carbonate lens and housing. That's going to feature the red and clear lens. Then, here on the back side, I just want to take a moment to talk about the connection points.

On this side, this is going to be the side of the light that's going to have your stop light function, turn signal, and tail light. That's why you can see it has a three prong connection and you can see all the terminals inside those connection spots. Now, on this side, this is just going to have the back up function, so it just needs power and ground. It has the same footprint as a three prong plug, but it only has two terminals inside those connection points. What you can do, you can either use two standard three prong plugs, those are going to be sold separately for a complete installation, or here on this side, you can put a three prong plug and on this side, you can use a two prong plug for a complete installation.

Again, your plugs are going to be sold separately. We carry those here on our website. It's also designed to be a flush mount installation with a mounting grommet, part number A70GB, that's going to be sold separately. I want to go ahead and take some time just to go over the dimensions real quick with you. Starting with the overall length, measuring from edge to edge, we're looking at about six and seven sixteenths of an inch. If I measure the width, that's going to give us a measurement of about two and five sixteenths of an inch, and then our depth, measuring from the front of the lens to the back of the plug, we're looking at about an inch and a half .

. . Optronics is also going to put a lifetime warranty on the LED's. Now, we're going to go and hook this up to our external power source, that way you can see what it looks like with running to it. I'm going to go ahead and plug in the side with our reverse light on, first, then turn off our overhead lights so you can see what it looks like in a low light setting. You can see there that the back up lights going to send out a nice, clear, consistent signal. It's a really bright light. Now, we'll go ahead and switch this over to the other side of the light. For demonstration purposes, I'm just using one plug. You'll definitely be able to have both plugs, plugged in at the same time. For our situation today, I'm just swapping them out. This is going to be your tail light function. When I apply the breaks, you can see how it illuminates. Nice, clear, quick response time. That's also going to function as our turn signal. That's going to do it for today's review of part number STL211RB. This is the Optronics submersible trailer LED tail light. .

This video is not correct. The parts that I received I had to use the white wire on the 3 pin connector to get the backup light to work. The white wire on the 2 pin does nothing.

For the 2 pin connector # A49PB the white wire is for ground and the red wire is for power. The 3 pin connector # A47PB , the black wire is for the tail light, red wire is for signal and the white is for the ground.
