Optronics Trailer Lights - Waterproof Amber Trailer Light - OPT78FR Review

Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Micro-Flex LED trailer light. This is a rectangular trailer light that has a sonically sealed, waterproof, polycarbonate housing and amber lens unit that is going to be submersible. So it's gonna be a great option for your boat trailers. This light is PC rated, which means that not only will you be able to see it from straight on, but you'll be able to see it from either side as well.

So it is going to work great as either a side marker and clearance light, or a made-shift turn signal. Because it is PC rated it can work simultaneously as a side marker and clearance light, if you have it mounted probably. So it's gonna be a really good option for you. It does have the micro-flex faceted or reflector design that's going to increase the light output. And it's going to provide that contemporary appearance.

This will mount to the surface of your trailer very easily. The hardware is not included. You will have to provide that yourself. But our connection point here, we do have a three-wire pigtail that's going to have a delfin connector that's going to provide a weatherproof connection. I'm just got this hooked up to a few wires for display right now.

But that will fit right into your delfin connection to make sure that your wiring is gonna be waterproof as well. As far as our dimensions go, this is right at six inches long, might be better if I show it on this side, could be a little bit closer there. So not quite six inches. I'm gonna call it about five and three quarters. And then our height, we're looking at right about two inches.

And then our depth, I'm gonna say it's right about just over one and a quarter of an inch deep there. Our mounting holes from center to center are gonna be we'll call it four and seven eight of an inch, just shy of five inches. There are 16 diodes on this light. And those LEDs are gonna be a great option, especially if you're looking to replace an incandescent light. They're more efficient than incandescent lights. So they provide more light with less power draw. They last about 50 times longer, because they don't have the brittle filaments in there that require you to replace them. So these LEDs do have a lifetime warranty. So because this is a three-wire system, we can have it hooked up to constant running power like I have it here. But then if you we're to use it as a turn signal, you also have that option, where those lights will get a little bit brighter as you're turning and that turn signal is synced to it. So overall gonna be a really nice option to switch out a trailer light on your boat trailer. It's not gonna have to worry about getting wet or being submerged. It's gonna hold up well for you, provide that nice, bright light even at night. To demonstrate that, I'll turn off the lights here in my studio, if I can find my night switch. There it is. So it's gonna provide sufficient light for any motorists coming up behind you to know where you're at and that sort of thing. So you're not gonna have to worry about visibility in low light conditions. So again, really nice option to switch out your light on your boat trailer or any other trailer that you're needing a new amber light for. That's going to complete our look today Again I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
