Review of Pollak Wiring PK12703

Today we'll be reviewing part number Pk12703. This is the Pollak metal 7-pole RV-style trailer socket. This socket is going to connect your tow vehicle to your trailer. It's got the heavy plated metal construction, which is going to be resistant to weather and corrosion. It's also got a noncorroding, shock-resistant interior design. It's going to feature a terminal reinforcer that's going to eliminate shorting out, as well as preventing contact from spreading.

The center pins will accept up to 8-gauge wire. Then here at the rear we have a nice vinyl insert that's going to help keep out dirt and moisture. We have the spring-loaded cover with the stainless steel spring, which functions as a safety latch, so it's going to ensure the connector is plugged well into the socket, and it's going to protect our connection points from the elements. When it comes to the wiring, it is going to be color coded to RVI standards. So to go over those color codes real quick and the recommended gauge wires, the white is going to be your ground wire. We're going to recommend 10-gauge.

Blue is for electric brakes. We recommend 12-gauge. Green is going to be for tail, license, and running lights. We recommend 14-gauge. Black is for the battery charge.

We recommend 10-gauge. Red is for stop and left-hand turn signal. Brown is for stop and right-hand turn signal. Yellow is for the auxiliary circuit. For all 3 of those we're going to recommend 14-gauge wiring. Here at the rear, at it's widest point, the diameter of the round portion is going to measure 1-7/8", and then we have 4 mounting holes here up front.

Center-on-center measuring this way is going to give us an 1-1/2", and then center-on-center measuring this way is going to measure 2-3/16". That's going to do it for today's review of part number Pk12703. This is the Pollak metal 7-pole RV-style trailer socket. .
