RV Safe RV Gas Detectors - RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Detector - RS94FR Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this RV safe, 12 volt, three wire RV propane gas and carbon monoxide detector for the Thor motor homes. And this one's black in color. Now this detector will replace your three-wire detector that's commonly found in the older models of the Thor industry's motor homes. This is a propane gas and carbon monoxide detector that will alert you to potentially dangerous levels of that gas in your RV. It'll give you four beeps and a flashing red light to indicate carbon monoxide gas or it will give you a continuous beep and solid red light to indicate propane gas or both.

It does use a nice, highly selective sensor, which means fewer false alarms from non-threatening gases. And on the very front here has a silence test button that you can push for easy testing of the alarm. The alarm intensity is about 85 decibels. Now at the end of this video, I am going to hook this up to some power just to let you know how loud it is.You can see it has a nice compact design for a low-profile modern look, and it has a nice curved shaped to be less intrusive. It does include the two universal mounting brackets here to allow you to retrofit this to 90% of all surface and flush mounted propane gas detectors.

You can see that this will mount to this adapter just like that or you can mount it to this adapter. Now it does replace the Safety Alert 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 series and the 65 series alarms and most Atwood and Dometic branded carbon monoxide or propane alarms. It does come with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how it hooks up and how it operates, mounting hardware to install this to the adapter and the adapter to your vehicle. Now, this does exceed the UL 1484 in CSA requirements. And you can see this one is black in color. Now, a few specs on this. The lifespan is five years.

The RV voltage requirement is 8 volts to 15 volts. LP sensitivity is as low as 4,200 parts per million, and the CO or carbon monoxide sensitivity is as low as 70 parts per million.I want to give you some dimensions on this first. So the length from this end all the way to that end, 4 1/4 inches. The width on it is right about 2 5/8 inches wide. Depth of it is about 1/2 inch.

Now the mounting holes spacing we're going to measure from center to center. Here's the two mounting holes, and that measurement is going to be right at 3 5/8 inches. Now, one note I do want to mention is because LP gas is heavier than air, this detector shouldn't be installed no more than 18 inches from the floor so that it can accurately detect the amount of gas in your RV.So what I want to do now is go ahead and hook it up. Get the three wires. We'll hook up the black wire, which is your ground. And then we'll hook up either one of the red wires to give us the power. And with those hooked up, let me zoom back in and you should be able to see at the very bottom here, there's a green light that's showing you that it's getting power. Right next to that green light is where the red light will come on for the alarm. So what I'm going to do now is just push this. You can hear the audible alert and there's the red light flashing. There's the continuous beep. Go ahead and disconnect this. But that should do it for the review on the RV safe, 12 volt, three wire RV propane gas and carbon monoxide detector for the Thor motor homes.

I am in the process of replacing a Atwood model 33535E with a mounting hole 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 mounting hole and need something that will fit that hole. Will this unit work for me.

Whats up JJ!? The two linked products will work for you(same thing just a black and white version). They are, for all intents and purposes, universal and will replace almost every type of RV Propane and Carbon Monoxide detectors. # RS54FR # RS34FR
