Rear View Safety Inc Backup Cameras and Alarms - Side View Cameras - RVS-MV1-R-01 Review

Michael: Hi there, Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Rear View Safety side view camera. This is going to mount to the passenger side of your vehicle as a side camera to reduce your blind spots. Or you can mount it on the back of your vehicle as a backup camera. And it's going to make it much easier and far less stressful for you to change lanes, back up, or hook up to your hitch. It's very small. You can see here.

The camera, it's really only about an inch and a quarter, by an inch and quarter, by right about an inch. So it's very small, very compact. It's not going to be noticeable. It's going to, like I said, it's going to mount to the vehicle. It's going to have a flush mount.

That combined with the size and the design, it's going to make it look like it came from the factory. It's going to have a very integrated look to your vehicle. It's very simple to install, although there are a few caveats to it. You've got all the included pieces that you need to get it installed, hardware and 3M tape. You are going to need to drill about a quarter inch hole to pass your wire through to get your bolt there through. Before you do that you want to make sure that you unhook the cable from the adapter cable.

It's going to be much thinner so it's going to be easier to pass through that quarter inch hole. And that's where your caveat comes in.Once you have the hole drilled and you pass the cable through, you are going to need to be able to reach up and put on your hardware on the back here. So you're going to be limited in where you can mount this. It's going to has to be somewhere where you can get behind the fascia of your vehicle. So it's going to work great on like a tailgate or something like that.

It might not work very well towards the top of your RV where it's going to be hard to get back in there to put the mounting hardware on. So just be mindful of that when you're deciding on where you want to mount it.It does come with a 10 foot cable, so you're going to have plenty of room to run your wire. But again you're going to have to run that wire back behind the fascia, so be mindful of where you decided to mount it. It comes with the 5 pin connector. Your camera itself is going to have 150 degrees of angle to view, so it's going to give you plenty of viewing space. It's also excellent at night. It's got night vision on it and it's completely waterproof. It's got an IP 68 rating, which means that it can basically withstand being in about five feet of water for a half hour. So it's definitely going to hold up against those soaking rains or your spring power washing cleanings. You're not going to have to worry about it becoming damaged in the water. It's also going to withstand temperatures ranging from negative 40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. So you're not going to have to worry about the temperature is bothering it at all. It also comes with a one year warranty from Rear View Safety. And that's going to complete our look at the Rear View Safety side view camera.
