Review of Reese Novelty RP86619

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Ram LED lighted vehicle emblem. The officially licensed product is going to feature the nice Ram logo, this is designed to replace your factory emblem which is going to add a stylish touch to your vehicle. The light up emblem is going to activate when the running lights are on and then it's going to brighten when the brake pedal is pressed or when the hazards are activated. The emblem will not flash when your turn signals are activate, so you don't have to worry about that. We're going to have a nice black metallic coating that's going to be pure transparent when the lights are activated. It's going to contain red LED's, those are very long lasting, they're easy to see and they're energy efficient.

When it comes to the construction of the unit, it's going to be a durable plastic, corrosion-resistant construction. Right back here, this is just a peel off material that's going to expose the pre-applied heavy duty tape and that's how you're going to apply it, so it's a stick on application. The emblem is going to hard wire into the vehicles tail lights with the included wiring and quick splice connectors. This is designed for Ram vehicles. If we take a look at the dimensions, I'm actually going to measure here at the back side. It's just going to give us more accurate measurements.

Overall width is going to measure from edge to edge. It looks to be about five and three quarters of an inch. The overall height top to bottom is going to measure about six and one quarter inches. It's going to come with detailed installation instructions. It's going to come with the wiring, it's going to come with a converter, and it's going to come with all the connectors, and some zip ties to secure any access to secure any access or slack in the wiring. When it comes to the installation, the emblem is designed to replace your vehicles factory emblem, but it can also be installed in addition to your OE emblem ...

Because it simply sticks onto your vehicle with the heavy duty tape, you can really mount it anywhere that you want to as long it's a nice, flat, clean surface. Some vehicles will require removal of the back panel to access the wiring, for other vehicles you may have to drill an access hole to run the wiring. All that's going to be highlighted and detailed out in the included instructions. It will walk you through that process. One of the things that you want to be sure to do is you want to be sure to use a circuit tester.

We do carry those here if you need one, it is going to be sold separately, but it's available if you need it. We do recommend that you use a circuit tester to identify your vehicles wiring functions. If your vehicle has a two-wire system in which one wire is used for both the brake light and turn signal functions, then that's when you would install the included converter to ensure correct performance and to eliminate any interference between the wiring. If you intend to install this emblem on a pickup truck and if you frequently remove your tailgate, then you can install a two way flat connector, it's going to be sold separately, part number 9651P and that's going to make disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring quick and easy. Really nice system, I want to go ahead and hook it up to our actually power that way you can see the brightness of the LED's here at the emblem or the logo. We'll get all of our wires connected and then we'll also turn off our overhead lights using a low light setting. This is going to be the low illumination, I'm going to turn it off and turn it back on so you can see the comparison. When we activate our brakes or hazards you can see how that brightens up for a stronger signal output. That's going to do it for today's look at the Ram LED lighten emblem.

This is a universal light kit, but unfortunately this was discontinued last year.
