Review of Rhino Rack Roof Rack RRVA150S-2

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars with the Matte Silver Finish. These are going to be sleek, low-profile bars that are going to let you build an aftermarket roof rack for your vehicle. That way you can easily haul your roof mounting accessories. They are going to require a Rhino-Rack legs and a custom fit kit depending on your vehicle. Those items are sold separately and can be found right here at etrailer.com. These are going to be nice slim, elliptical crossbars when it comes to the shape.

It's really going to help create an extremely aerodynamic system. These are going to be full-length bars that are actually going to extend past the roof rack legs. Which is really going to help maximize space for your carriers and for your accessories. Here on the top of the bar, we're going to have a top channel, that's going to let you add channel-mounted carriers and accessories to the bars. Then you can also use clamp-on accessories, those simply just mount conveniently around the bars. The bars are designed to accept most roof mount accessories that are designed for aero and electrical roof racks.

That strip right here, that covers up that channel, that's going to be a Rubberized Vortex strips. That's going to dramatically reduce drag and wind noise. It's got a nice wave shape design, that way it cuts to the wind, really breaks that up. That's going to be installed in multiple pieces, that way you can easily remove part of it when you're ready to install your channel mount accessories. You can remove it, you can cut it, you can trim it, you can put slits in it for your accessories.

These rubber strips are going to really do a great job at keeping dirt and grime out of the crossbar. They're also going to do a good job at providing cushioning and slip resistance for your cargo. You can see, by removing the end cap, you can simply lift up and then pull this out of place. The reason why I really like having them in multiple pieces, is you don't have to remove the entire strip. Which is a really nice design, compared to some of the other roof racks that have that strip to cover up the channel mount. A lot of times it's one long strip, this is going to be broken into multiple pieces depending on the length of crossbar that you have for your applications.

Really nice design and very easy and functional to use. Here on the bottom of the bar, you can see on each side that we're going to have these bottom channels. These are going to allow easy installation to the Rhino-Rack roof rack legs. These covers, that cover up the channel, these are actually rulers to have little hash marks on them and numbers. This come in handy when it comes to installing the leg on the bar. The rulers in the channel are going to help center the crossbar on your roof and ensure proper leg placement for your vehicle. When you install the leg kit into this bottom channel, the rulers are actually going to be cut according to the application, according to the instructions, and the particular fit for your vehicle. These are going to be cut, and then once the leg kit is installed, you can place the ruler strips on each side of that leg kit to fill up that space. It's going to help further reduce wind noise during travel. The bars are made from a lightweight, structural-grade anodized aluminum, highly resistant towards rust and corrosion. These are going to last a long time. I want to point out this internal construction. It's going to use an internal H-shaped extrusion, that's going to provide exceptional bar strength so you can see that design right there. Really nice design, strong and durable. Then each bars going to come with with two plastic end caps. The end caps are going to have plastic lock cores installed on them. Now those lock cores, again they're plastic, those are going to help deter theft of your mounted accessories. Those can be replaced with metal lock cores if you want to further enhance the amount of security for your roof rack system. You can find those lock cores right here at etrailer.com, again they are sold separately but you can upgrade to all metal locks for added security. Each end cap is going to have that plastic lock core installed. It's going to come with a key. Simply place it in there, and then you can rotate it to the locked or unlocked position. End caps and keys are included. When it comes to the weight capacity of the bar, we're looking at a 165 pounds, when used as a two bar system. You always want to be careful and refer to your vehicle's owners manual to check the roof rack capacity or to check the roof capacity. To make sure that you don't exceed that capacity for your particular vehicle. You want to check out your owners manual and see what it can handle. When it comes to the dimensions of the bar, they're going to give us an overall width of 3 1/8", and an overall height, looks to be 1 3/16". Now the lengths are going to vary, here at etrailer.com, we carry a variety of lengths such as 41", 44", 49", 54", 59", 65" and 71". The lengths are going to vary depending on your application. Rhino-Rack really stands for their products and behind their products. They're actually going to put limited lifetime warranties on all of their bars when it comes to the Vortex Aero, including this one right here. This two bar system, again available on a variety of lengths and it's going to be covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars with the Matte Silver Finish.
