Review of Roadmaster Hitch Accessories RM-062

Kevin: Today we're going to be taking a look at part number RM-062. This is the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2 1/2 inch trailer hitches. This unit is going to keep your hitched on accessories stable and secure. It's going to help eliminate rattle and sway within the hitch receiver. It's going work great for hitch adapters and tow bars. This is designed for flat towing only.

This not designed to handle any ton weight. Really simple operation and installation. It simply just bolts on quickly and easily. This is designed to fit most 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receivers. To go over a few measurements real quick, outside to outside, that's going to give us a measurement of 5 1/8th of an inch. Inside to inside is going to give us a measurement of 4 3/16ths of an inch.

With these nuts backed off as far as possible, with that bar set all the way back, from this point here to this point here, it's going to give us a measurement of 3 9/16ths of an inch. Again, this is designed for flat towing only. If you have towing set-up that includes a drop receiver, a Hi-Lo adapter, you'll want to use two of these units to make your system as secure and rattle free as possible. You can use one quiet hitch at the connection point between the adapter and your hitch. Then, use the other where your tow bar slides into your adapter. Really simple operation. All you have to do is take the nuts off.

This one's on there pretty good. Once you get all of those removed, you're going to place the portion right here, the U-bolt, this is going to behind the collar of your hitch. Your shank or whatever is mounted inside your hitch is going to go through this point here. This bar is going to come down on top of that shank, so it is going to sit at an angle. Now, you can install this either way, with the threads pointed up or the threads pointed down, depending on your vehicle and how much room it allows you.

Once you have that in place, as you tighten these down it's going to push this against the shank of your hitch mounted item. Which is either going to be able to push it down against the bottom of the inside of your receiver tube, or it's going to push it up against the inside edge of your receiver tube. That's how it's going to eliminate the rattle or wobble that we experience inside of our hitch. Now, in the instructions, it does give torque ratings for each of these nuts so you can get those tightened down to the torque rating as indicated in the specifications listed by the manufacturer. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RM-062. This is the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2 1/2 inch trailer hitches. .
