Review of Roadmaster Tow Bars RM-676

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster Nighthawk all terrain non-binding tow bar. This tow bar lets you tow your vehicle safely and securely behind your motor home. It slides into two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver on your RV. It does not require a ball mount, so nothing extra is needed. And it comes with a pin and clip to secure it inside the hitch on your RV.Weight capacity rating is 8,000 pounds for this system. It features a non-binding design which allows you to release your vehicle at any time, anywhere, even on unlevel ground.

And it has an extra large hook up radius, which makes connecting super easy at any angle, even if your vehicle isn't perfectly lined up with your RV.The sturdy brackets on the ends of each tow bar arm provides reinforced connection to the base plates, so each arm attaches and detaches from the base plate with the included, easy to access pins and clips. There's no quick disconnect crossbar needed for Roadmaster Easy 5 MS, or MX vehicle specific base plates.Another neat feature about this system is it features a self-aligning design, so all you have to do is hook it up, and then drive your RV forward, and then these arms will extend automatically into rigid, tow-ready position, and automatically lock in place. You can hear that lock engage. And then when you're ready to release, all you've got to do is lift up on the lever, and the arms release. Super easy system to control and to operate. Now, the extra long telescoping arms allow for easier towing.

Stainless steel construction of the inner arms allow for smooth operation. You don't have to worry about any type of rust or corrosion building up on these. Again, you also have the nice large release levers to easily disengage the arms whenever you're ready. One of my favorite features about this system is on each arm, right here along the side. It has the integrated LED lights. These are designed to illuminate with your RV taillights.

Makes it super easy to hook up or disconnect in the dark, or in low light conditions, and it also provides greater visibility for your towing setup when you're out on the road. Now, this unit features strong, corrosion resistant touches to it. This unit is built to last. FEA testing guarantees a strong finished product. It features self-lubricating nylon bushings to eliminate friction between the inner and the outer arms for a longer lasting, better functioning system. Externally, we're looking at a lightweight aircraft grade aluminum body.

So, it's lighter compared to other tow bars on the market. It's also very durable and rust-proof. But don't let the aluminum construction throw you off at all, because they do also incorporate steel and stainless steel parts that are built in at critical components or points to maintain structural integrity. Then, exterior, it has a really nice powdercoated finish to provide additional durability as well as corrosion resistance. Now, another neat feature about the system is you'll notice that these arms right here are pretty thick. That's because it has the built in cable guides. The cable guides run underneath the arm, and those are designed to protect the included coiled safety cables, as well as the . Your electrical hook up cables. The cable guides, again, are designed to protect the included coiled power cords, and safety cables from getting damaged or tangled. We're looking at a vinyl coating on the safety cables, with steel hooks, with safety latch mechanisms for easy connecting and disconnecting. The vinyl coating ensures that the cables will not scratch or damage your towing setup. Then we have the electrical cord. So, it already is ran through the cable guide. They do not run these through the cable guides in case you don't want them ran through, but you can definitely do that if needed, or if desired. All you have to do is remove the quick link from one end, run the cable through, and then reattach the quick link, which has your hook attached to it. But, it does come with your electrical cord. It has a seven way RV style plug on one end, and a six way plug on the other end. It also comes with your six way socket for your towed vehicle. Now, another neat feature is when this isn't being used, it can actually, the arms can be pushed together, and then they can be rotated up. Then this bolt right here secures in the built-in storage latch. So, it actually folds up towards the RV and secures in place when it's not in use.The product's made in the USA. One of the things I want to show you real quick, and then we'll go over the compatibility, is I do want to show you the LED lighting. I'm actually going to hook this up to our power source. I just want to show you what it looks like with the lights turned off. The LED lighting is amber in color. It just looks really nice. It sends out a really nice, soft glow. Again, you have that LED light strip that runs the full length of the arm, also on the other side. Now, again, when it comes to compatibility, this is designed to work with Roadmaster MX, MS, and Easy 5 vehicle specific base plates. A quick disconnect bar, part number 910021-00 is sold separately, and can be used to fit Roadmaster XL, EZ, EZ2 and EZ4 vehicle specific base plates. This can also be adapted for use with Blue Ox base plates, with the Roadmaster tow bar to Blue Ox brackets adapter, part number RM-031-5.That's going to do it for today's look at the Roadmaster Nighthawk all terrain non-binding tow bar.
