SuperSprings Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension - Springs - SS26MV Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff of etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs with the line relocation brackets for 5,000-lb to 8,000-lb OverSlung Single Axle Trailers. Now, this kit will help improve suspension handling and safety of your trailer. It will provide additional support as needed. So you always have a nice, smooth, comfortable ride. It basically allows the leaf spring ample movement, while cushioning light loads and they will become more rigid as more weight is added.

Helps increase stability, provides great performance, while hauling heavy loads, and the springs do compress up to about 80% of the original height with full memory rebound. Does raise your trailer ride height. These do work independently side to side, help compensate for any off-center loads. They will reduce body roll when you're swerving and turning corners, and to work to eliminate any trailer sway. They do also act as shock absorbers, taking the brunt of any bumps and rough roads, which will reduce the load on your leaf spring assembly, which helps extend the life of your trailer suspension.

Now, this is designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. This kit does in come with everything I laid, out here on the table. The two Jounce-style springs, the mounting brackets, the hardware to install it, they're all included, and as I mentioned earlier, the line relocation brackets and hardware. And the reason they include that, is because on some travel trailers, there may be a gas or utility line that's mounted to the lower portion of the frame and it needs to be slightly relocated to avoid interference with the SumoSprings installation. So they give you all the parts should need to do that.

And even a nice set of installation instructions that'll describe how everything's installed. This kit is maintenance free. There's no tubing to run or air pressure monitor like with air springs. These parts are made in the USA. Few specs again, the application is 5,000-lb to 8,000-lb single overslung axles.

And when I say overslung, what that's meaning is the springs sit over the axle. Now for tandem axle applications it will require, two of these kits, this is just for a single axle. Capacity is 900-lb at 50% compression. And you just want to make sure that you do not exceed, your trailer's weight carrying capacity. But that should do it for the review, on the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs with the line relocation brackets for 5,000-lb to 8,000-lb OverSlung Single Axle Trailers..

This is an attempt to replace the suspension system used by this manufacturer, it was too weak for the circumstances, It has two blocks welded to the primary frame which are 2"x2" each raising the trailer 4 ". These need to be cut off as I C it right now. Essentially these will be replaced on both ends, resulting in adding a beam to replace the axle assembly 33" long to the Spindle assemblies which "could be reused", I think ? In any event they'll be considered more later, imperative to achieve the backbone of this issue as soon as possible.

These aren't designed to replace the OEM suspension but to add more stability to it. If you were to replace the whole leaf spring system with this type of suspension then you'd be looking at the Timbren Axleless system like what you see with part # ASR35HDS01 .
