Superwinch Electric Winch - Tiger Shark Off Road Winch Synthetic Rope Hawse - SW1595201 Review

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at this Superwinch Tiger Shark off-road winch with a synthetic rope and hawse fairlead. Now, this is one of Superwinch's most popular winches. This Tiger Shark winch comes standard with a 3/8 of an inch synthetic rope, a mechanical, automatic load holding brake, and a handheld remote. This winch is going to provide 9,500 pounds of rated line pull with a weather sealed 5.2 horsepower motor, a heavy-duty drum supports, and a heavy-duty, three-stage planetary gear box with a gear ratio of 218:1.

This features an ergonomic, pull and turn free spool clutch. Right now, I have it in the engaged position, but it's gonna be very simple just to lift this and turn to the disengaged or the free spool position. And that's going to allow you to freely pull your line from your winch. And then simply turn it back and then that's going to engage the winch. So, I could see this is gonna be very easy to grab onto even if you have gloves on your hands on a cold or nasty day, that's gonna be very easy to use.

The tie bars here are stainless steel along with the hardware that it comes with and a CNC'd aluminum hawse. Now, as I mentioned, this synthetic rope is 3/8 of an inch in diameter. The overall length is 80 feet. And this comes with a heavy-duty clevis pin latch hook and a hand saver strap that's gonna make retrieving this hook very easy. I did wanna mention that as you can see, the line does not come installed on the winch.

So, when you are setting up your winch, you will have to install the line and instructions are included with how you can get this properly mounted onto the drum. Now, a severe-duty rubber handheld remote is going to make operating your winch safe and easy. And again, I'm thinking of, you know, on a cold day, especially when you might have gloves over your hands, this is, again, gonna be very easy to use with gloved hands. And the remote itself is heavy-duty. I do have this plugged in but you can easily unplug this from the winch.

And it comes with a cap here to protect that plug from the elements when it's not in use. And then when you're ready to use it, you can just plug that in and you will be good to go. The solenoid and circuit breaker are weather sealed against elements. And this sports a severe-duty textured finish that I think is gonna stand up real well against the elements. Now, the drum diameter is about 2 1/2 inches. The drum length itself is right at nine inches. And I measured this winch earlier and the overall length from end to end, we're sitting at about 20 3/8 inches long and about 5 3/4 inches wide. And at the tallest point, about 9 1/8 inches tall. Now you will get, as I mentioned, the hardware that you're gonna need to install this. And also, installation and user guides to not only help you through the installation process, but help you become a little more familiar with this winch before you use it. Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
