Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA46VR Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at this contender S T 2 0 5 75 R 15 radial trailer tire in a load range C mounted on this 15 inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers and campers. The wheel they use is a steel wheel, has a nice white spoke design to it. It's very sturdy and corrosion resistant. Now the wheel itself goes through a three-step finishing process, which includes first a phosphate sink bath, then an e-coat primer, and then a nice white powder coat on the front of the wheel.

If I spin it around if you look at the back of the wheel, they lightly e-coat it to reduce friction and provide rust resistance with less flaking. Now this wheel does use the ITR technology, which stands for Improved Torque Retention. And I want to zoom in on that just to show you what we're talking about. But basically what it is they use uncoated stud holes here, where your lugs go and they're beveled to give you better clamp force retention. Now the tire itself is a radial tire.

It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords. It's great for highway use, and they do use a nice nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. This tire is a special trailer tire design, it couples the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. And it is created specifically for trailers not intended for use on any other vehicles. And this whole tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications and exceeds the federal motor vehicle safety standards.

This does come with a two year platinum plus warranty, which includes complimentary roadside assistance. So basically if your trailer has a flat tire, you can call the helpline and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. And this service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We'll do a few specs on this. we're going to start with the wheel.

The diameter on the wheel, which is measured inside the inside is 15 inch diameter. The width on just the wheel by itself is five inches wide. This wheel does have a bolt pattern of five on four and a half inches. And if you want to measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs in this case five. It's pretty easy. All you have to do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you'll measure across to either one of these holes right across from it. But when you measure it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whatever hole you measure to. So on this one, if you measured it'll be four and a half inches. So it's a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. Now the weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 2,160 pounds. And the pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall S T for Special Trailer, 2 0 5 75 R 15. The R means that it's a radial tire. Section width on this is eight inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top, when it's inflated, is 27.1. This tire is a load range C which means it's a six ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 1,820 pounds at 50 PSI. And then the last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them. And if you want to look on the sidewall where the speed rating is, it's just usually, if you look around the wheel here. You'll usually, here it as you'll see the tire size. And then right after you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter M. Speed rating is always designated by a letter designation. So speed rating M will mean 81 miles per hour. But that should do it for the review on the contender S T 2 0 5 75 R 15 radial trailer tire in a load range C on this 15 inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern..
