Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA99VR Review

Hello, everybody this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today We're taking a look at this provider ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range, E mounted on this 16 inch silver modular steel wheel with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire-wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel the tires on is a steel wheel has a modular design. And when we say modular design, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. This wheel is sturdy and rust-resistant, and the wheel does go through a three-step finishing process, which will first include a zinc phosphate bath and e-coat primer.

And then a nice silver powder coat on the outside of the wheel. And if we spin it around to the back of the wheel, you can see that on the inside, it's slightly e-coated to reduce friction, provide rust resistance. The wheel does use the ITR technology. Which stands for improved torque retention. It's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer.

And just want to zoom in to show you what we're talking about is right here on the lug holes. They use uncoated stud holes here, which are beveled to give you better clamp force retention. Now the tire that's on this is a radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice long life. It's great for highway use, and they do use a nice nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire, help prevent tread separation.

And the tire itself is bake tested to ensure that the rubber holds up over time. And this is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire. This design will couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. And it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles.

This assembly does come with a two year platinum plus warranty, which will include emergency tire change service and other benefits. And the assembly does meet the DOT specifications, which is department of transportation and exceed the federal motor vehicle safety standards. Few specs on this, starting with the wheel itself. Diameter is going to be 16 inches in diameter. The width on just the wheel by itself is six inches wide. Bolt pattern we mentioned on this wheel is an eight on six and a half-inch bolt pattern. And if you wanted to measure a bolt pattern on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs. Like, in this case, eight, it's pretty easy to do because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So it's pretty easy to just pick any hole, let's say here. And you measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole, right across from it. So on this one, it'll measure six and a half inches. So it's an eight-lug six-and-a-half-inch bolt pattern. Now the wheel lug size, it can be used on this as either a half-inch by 20 or a 9/16 by 18. Weight capacity on just the wheel by itself. It's 3,750 pounds, pilot hole diameter, which is the hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is 5.12 inches, and then the tire would be stamped with the size on the sidewall ST for special trailer, 235/80R16 R stands for radial section width on this is 9.3 inches overall diameter from the bottom to the top. When it's inflated, it's 30.8 inches. This is a load range E tire, which means it's a ten-ply rated tire. So it does have a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And then the last thing I do want to mention to you is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them now, and the speed rating will be stamped or designator with a letter designation and where that's at is right after the size we went over. You'll see the next two numbers, 1 24 and one 20. Yeah, 1 24 slash 1 20. That's the load index. And then here's the letter M; that letter M right at the very end is your speed rating. And that stands for 81 miles per hour. But that should do it for the review on the provider ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E on this 16-inch silver modular steel wheel with the eight on six and a half-inch bolt pattern..
