Review of Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118551

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom-fit part. It is designed to fit 2005 to 2014 Ford Lincoln, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles. It fits many vehicles in those brands, so what I would recommend for you to do is go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this provides this four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five-pole, six-pole, and seven-pole adapters, that we do sell separately on our website. This harness does connect very quickly and easily.

Basically, you just locate your connection points, which will be behind the tail lights. Plug in these T connectors, one on each side of the vehicle. Ground your white wire, and then your black power wire here will run to your vehicle's battery. This harness includes this black box, which is a modulite. This is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer.

It is a power module, so it connects directly to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. The wire that runs out the back that the four-way's connected to, it's constructed of a 16-gauge bonded wire. If you notice, has this integrated dust cover for your four-way. What's nice about that is when you're not plugged into your trailer, you can put that over the terminals to protect it from the elements or from any damage.A few specs on this harness. The maximum amperage is ...

on the stop and turn light circuits is 4.2 amps per circuit. On the tail lights is 7.5 amps per circuit. This part includes everything laid out here on the table, even has a nice set of detailed instructions that describe how to install it, with pictures of where your connections are to be made. Basically, just to go through this briefly how this connects, what you'll want to do again is go to the back of the vehicle. Locate your connection points, which will be behind the tail lights.

You'll want to start on the passenger side and take this T connector, it has the green wire in it, unplug your harness from the tail lights, plug this in between the harness and the tail lights. Then what you want to do is take the other T connector, that has the yellow wire in it, that's for the driver side. Run that over to the driver side, same way. Plug in this T connector between the harness and the tail lights. Now, your modulite box here, you do want to attach that to a good, flat surface so it doesn't bounce around. They do include a bracket with a hole in it that you could put a screw in. They also include a piece of double-face tape that you can use to hold it into place, but you do want to attach that down. Once that's all attached, you'll take your white wire that has the eyelet on it, that needs to connect to a good clean ground. Then the remaining wire is your black power wire. That'll run to the front of the vehicle, to the battery. To do that, they give you a length of wire and some connectors. You'll take on of your butt connectors, put on the power wire, connect it to one end of this length of wire, run this all the way to the front. When you get to the front, you don't want to connect this directly to the battery. You want to run it through this in-line fuse holder.Take the other butt connector, attach it to one end of the fuse holder, just like that. Your other end of the fuse holder, you'll take this eyelet connector, attach that, and this is what'll connect to the vehicle's battery. Once that's connected, pop open your fuse holder. Take your included 15-amp fuse and go ahead and just install it into your fuse holder. Oops. There you go, just like that. Once you get it all installed, just go ahead and put your cover over that. Once you get that all attached, you'll be all ready to go. Now, they do include some extra cable ties to take up any length in the wiring. They even include this extra grounding screw if you need to make your own ground, if there wasn't one nearby, you can make your own ground with that screw. That should do it for the review on the T1 vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector.
