Review of Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118767

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits certain years of the Honda Fit. To ensure that this a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com.Now this unit provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle, which is going to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It comes with a dust cap for the 4-way flat connector.

The dust cap is tethered to the actual plug housing, so that way you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing it.The black box on the unit is where all the wires come from, or it's where all the wires run to. So this black box is the included ModuLite. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. This powered module is designed to connect direct to the vehicle battery through the wiring. That's going to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Now it is designed to connect quickly and easily.

All you need to do is locate the connection points behind the tail lights on your vehicle. And then you'll need to plug in your connectors. One goes to the driver's side. The other one goes to the passenger side of the vehicle. The plugs on this harness are custom fit for your vehicle. They're going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle.

They snap-lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. So locate the connection points, plug in all the connections, and then you'll need to make a ground connection. That's your white wire. It has a ring terminal already attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location.

You can use the included grounding screw to get that done.Next you'll need to mount the convertor box to a safe, out-of-the-way location. You can do this using the included cable ties. You could also use the double-sided adhesive film tape provided with the kit. Then you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is this short, black wire coming out of the box. This gets connected to one end of the bundle with one of the included butt connectors. The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle batt, gets another butt connector attached to it, and then that gets connected to one-half of the fuse holder. The other half of the fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It does come with your 15-amp fuse. Goes right in the fuse holder. It's got the cap that goes over it to keep it safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with the included cable ties. Then once your installion's complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector secured and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately and available at etrailer.com.It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dialectic grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That grease is specifically designed to help prevent corrosion of the connection points. It's sold separately and can be found at etrailer.com as well. The unit also comes with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the entire process step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.
