TorkLift Hitch Adapters - Ford Super Duty Hitch Extender - TLE1636 Review

Hi there, I'm Michael, with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at the Torklift canon 36 inch hitch extension. This is gonna slide right into your trailer hitch on your truck. It's gonna provide 36 inches of extension so that you can clear any obstacles that you may have in your trucks bed, like a truck bed camper. So that you still have access to your hitch if you wanted to pull a trailer along with you. Or if you wanted to put in a bike rack and take a few bikes with you while you're out camping.

This is going to slide or work with the three inch factory trailer hitch on your 2017 and newer Ford Super Duty. It's gonna slide right in and mount with the included pin there. You can see we do have these built-in set bolts to tighten down your extension to prevent any rattling of movement at the hitch. But even with those set bolts, you might be thinking that as you extend farther and farther away from your hitch, you're going to reduce your weight capacity more and more. And while that's true to an extent, this does have a nice sturdy steel construction with a heavy duty design that's going to allow you to maintain a very high towing capacity.

You can see we've got these shackles and lateral support safety chains. And so these shackles are going to mount onto the cross tubes of our hitch, and that's gonna provide tension to help keep our receiver tube opening nice and supported. So we are still going to have a weight capacity of 3,600 pounds, that's our maximum gross trailer weight. So the trailer plus the load included. We're gonna have a maximum tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube, of 360 pounds.

So that's still gonna be plenty for a bike rack and a few bikes. Take along with you, so you can go riding at the campsite. This is gonna be compatible with weight distribution. So if you've got a weight distribution system, your maximum gross trailer weight is gonna go up from 3,600 pounds up to 720 pounds. Your maximum tongue weight is gonna go up from 360 pounds up to 720 pounds.

So quite a bit of improvement there if you do have a weight distribution system. All of our accessories are gonna be mounted in place using these pins to keep them from wiggling out. These do have hardened reinforced hitch pin holes to prevent any elongation from wear. The pins themselves are just your standard five eighths inch diameter pin. Got a pin length of four and a half inches, so if you are wanting to switch these out for a hitch lock, you just have to make sure that it's four and a half inches long and it's got a five eighths inch diameter. So when we get our accessories mounted in place, this is going to be a two and a half inch by two and a half inch receiver tube opening. So if your accessories fit that, you're good to go. They do also include this reducer sleeve. So you can slide that in. Obviously you wanna make sure that your pin allows you to put it in completely. And that's going to reduce your opening down to a two inch by two inch opening. So if you have those two inch by two inch hitch accessories, like your ball mount or bike rack, those are gonna fit in there nice and snug and more firmly connect with your opening there. So really nice to have that reducer sleeve. You can see we also have the electrical bracket here that mounts to the receiver tube opening, to allow you to mount a seven way wiring extension. That is sold separately, but you can find it here at etrailer.com, using that part number that you see on the screen there. Basically, that's just gonna plug in at your truck's hitch and extend forward, so that it's gonna be much easier for you to hook up again, not having to climb under the camper and that sort of thing. This whole thing is gonna have a nice black powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. So it's gonna hold up very well for us. It is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. And it comes with a limited lifetime warranty, so you're not gonna have to worry about something breaking down and being stuck with it. If you have any problems, you can always give us a call, we're happy to help you. We wanna make sure that our customers are having a good experience, getting good quality products. And I think this is gonna be one of those products that you're gonna be very grateful to have. Extending out that receiver tube opening on your hitch so that you don't have to worry about climbing under the camper to get access to it or not having access because your trailer is not gonna fit under there. So just gonna help with those truck bed campers and any other obstacles that you may have, that you're still able to use that trailer hitch. So that's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael, with etrailer.com. I hope this video has been helpful for you determining if this is gonna work for your application, solve your needs, be a solution for you. We do have lots of other products here at etrailer.com for your towing camping experience. So if this isn't gonna be the product that is gonna solve your problems, I hope that you are able to find the one that will. That's gonna complete our look for today, we'll see you next time..
