Review of Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118414

Kevin: Today we're going to be taking a look at a T1 vehicle harness with a four-pull, flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years and models of the Scion XB. It's going to provide a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to tie your trailer's signal lights. Now this is compatible with five pull, six pull and seven pull adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with a dust cap for the way way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points from the plugs not being used.

The black box on the unit is already pre-wired in. This is going to be the included circuit protected taillight converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. It's going to provide protection against electrical shorts and overloads. Now the unit is going to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wiring.

All you have to do is locate your connection points in the rear cargo area. The unit does come with detailed installation instructions to help you through the process step by step. But locate those connection points and then plug in your T connectors. One's going to go to the passenger side of the vehicle. One's going to go on the driver's side. These plugs are going to match up perfectly with the plugs on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you get those connected, you'll need to make a ground connection.

Your ground wire is your white wire. It has a ring terminal already attached to it, and the kit comes with a grounding screw. So you can get that grounded to a nice, clean, metal surface. Then you'll need to mount the converter box. There's going to be a small hole located at the top, that way you can use some hardware and get that mounted, or you can use the large zip tie provided with the kit to get the converter box mounted. Then you can use the other zip ties to secure any access or slack in the wiring that you may have, keeping your wire up and out of the way and safe from the elements. Once your install's complete, the four way plug is going to be stowed in an out of the way location within your cargo area.

It's going to have plenty of wiring that way you can extend it out the back of your vehicle, and make your connection as necessary. Then when it's not being used you can safely stow it away in the rear cargo area. Now it is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease in all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself. That grease is really going to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. It is sold separately. If you need some, go find it at etrailer.com. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, you're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit. For the tail lights we're looking at 5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness with a four pull trailer connector.
