TowSmart Trailer Locks - Trailer Coupler Lock Kit - TS84FR Review

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the TowSmart Trailer Lock Kit. So, this is going to come with three separate locks that are going to help to keep your trailer safe and secure while you're not around. Let's take a look at what comes in our kit. We'll get one lock that goes on our actual couplers. So this helps to prevent anybody from connecting to our trailer while it's in storage, or while we have it parked somewhere.

Basically, it's just going to sandwich around our ball coupler and prevent anybody from hooking up to that. It comes with keys to get this unlocked. The keys are all going to be the same for each of these locks. So, they're pretty much interchangeable. Just put that in there, turn it, and you can lift that off.

Place this up around your coupler, and then cinch this guy over the top until it's nice and snug. So, that's pretty much all there is to it for getting that installed. It does have a nice bright red shackle, so that makes it a pretty visible theft deterrent. And it also is going to protect that shackle from any kind of rust and corrosion. This does fit most of your one and seven-eighths inch, two inch and two and five-sixteenth inch ball couplers. So it's pretty universal in that respect.

It's made of a durable stainless steel. The silvery part, as you can see, that's going to have a chrome finish that's going to be corrosion-resistant.As we move on to our next piece, this is going to be a bent-style trailer hitch receiver lock. So, the nice thing about this is that it works for both class three and class two hitches. On the one side, it's going to be a bit bigger than the other, so this will fit into a five-eighths of an inch hitch pin hole, and then this fits into a half-inch hitch pin hole. Same thing with this.

We can use one of our keys, unlock it, and if you need to go from that half-inch pin to the five-eighths of inch pin, you just flip the barrel, or flip the pin over and put the barrel lock on that end.So, pretty simple to get that installed. It has a little cap to keep that protected. Again, steel construction with a chrome cover or a chrome plating to help resist any rust and corrosion. And then finally we'll have our padlock for our coupler. So this also prevents anybody from getting our coupler latch undone. It fits through there. It's going to have a adjustable pin, so you can get that cinched down. It should work with most of your couplers out there. The shackle diameter is about a quarter of an inch. So, as long as your coupler hole locking hole is about that size, it should work out just fine for you. Unlock this one as well. So we can just cinch that down and lock up our coupler. And that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the TowSmart coupler. And I said that this was adjustable, but it's actually not. It's just going to lock around there. So the inside, let me take another measurement there, is about one and a quarter inch of space there. So, as long as that span is about one and a quarter inch, it should work out well for you.But I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this kit is the right one for you. It should work for a lot of different trailers out there, and you'll have a couple of different options as far as keeping everything secure. So, it should make sure that nobody's going to take your stuff while you're not around. Thanks for watching, and we'll see you on the road.
