Ventline RV Vents and Fans - Roof Vent Fan and Wall Switch - V2119-1-533 Review

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Ventline Ventadome roof vent with 12-volt fan and wall switch. This is going to be a great option for those of you who currently just have a vent in your RV or camper. Adding the fan in this unit is going to make it much more efficient to pull that warm air out of your camper so it's nice and comfortable. It's also going to allow you to do that while you have your doors locked and everything is secured so that you don't have to worry about anyone getting into your camper.

This is going to be capable of 100 cubic feet per minute movement of air, so it's going to do a good job for you, help to make sure that your camping experience is a lot more comfortable. Now, this system does have a power lift that's going to open and close the cover here, eliminating the need to hand crank. You simply have a vent open button here on the control panel. So, vent open. Vent closed. It's going to be a very simple upgrade, make it much easier for you to control, especially over those non-powered models.

The fan on the inside here, and the power lift, both use your RV or camper's DC power. It's going to be operational on the 12 volt DC power. The wiring kit that you'll need to get this all installed is sold separately, so you won't get any wiring with this beyond the short connections here on your wall switch. So, you will have to provide that to get everything wired up in place. But the included wall remote switch is going to be very convenient to turn your fan on and off and to open and close that vent lid.We do also have the polar white interior trim piece or garnish.

This is going to be included with the kit. This is what's going to be inside your camper. It's going to give it a nice finished look on your ceiling. This is going to fit with your 2-1/8" or 3-1/4" thick roofs. This is right at 2-1/8", so any less than that, you'll probably need a different varnish, which are sold separately.

So, you can find options that will fit for you, but this one is 2-1/8", and it is that nice polar white color so it should look really good with your interior colors. On the top of our camper, we are going to have this aerodynamic wedge-shaped dome that's made of a durable polypropylene. This is going to be mounted so that the bottom of the wedge is facing the direction of travel so that the wind comes up over it, so it's going to be very aerodynamic. It won't take up that much . won't cause much drag. When we have it closed like it is now, it's going to sit about 4-1/2". If we have it open, it's going to be about 10" tall. So, we do want to make sure that it's closed as we're traveling, again, to minimize that drag. But this is a nice translucent white color so it's going to allow some light through, kind of like sunlight, something like that. Skylight. It gives you a little bit of light inside your camper. The edge here, it is a galvanized steel roof flange so it's not going to rust or corrode. It's going to do a good job for you. It's going to be compatible with roof openings, roof rough openings of about 14-1/4" by 14-1/4" and that's pretty standard for most of your vents so it should do a good job for you. As far as getting this installed, you will have to remove the original vent that's in place. It should have some sort of sealant on the outside that you'll have to peel away, take out all the screws on the outside, and then lift it up. There'll be some butyl tapes and tacky tape on the bottom side. You'll want to scrape as much of that up as you can. Then, the screws and ceiling kit and everything for this is sold separately, but I would highly recommend the roof installation kit that you see on the screen there. That's going to include replacement butyl tape that you'll put down first on the roof and then put your vent back in place, put your screws in, and then seal over top of that. That butyl tape is going to allow the screws to dig into that tacky material and prevent water from getting down into the screw holes, and then that sealant will just spread out and make sure that no water is getting in on the installation site. So, that kit is going to be really important. If you're installing this yourself, very easy to do. They do include instructions on how to get everything wired up and installed so it is something that you can do on your own. But after you have it installed, as far as taking care of it, this screen is very easy to remove. Just push in on the tabs there and it pops out so you can clean that off, get any bugs or anything on there, dust, those sorts of things. You can easily clean that off in your kitchen sink, something along those lines. Now, this is not intended to be installed directly over your tubs or showers or your range cooking surfaces. This is more for the middle of your rooms and those sorts of things to help move that air out, but it is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made to the high-quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products made here in the U.S. So, I think this is a good starter kit. It's going to give you the vent fan and lid. It's going to give you the wall controls and your finishing touch here. So, a couple of things that is not included, again, your wiring and your sealant kit. So, keep in mind, if you are going to do this yourself, you will need to pick up some wiring and that sealant kit that I recommended or a similar kit.Overall, I think this is going to be a great option for you just to make your camping experience more enjoyable, more comfortable for you. We do have lots of other options here at etrailer.com, so if you're looking for something with a few more features, we do have some other options, but I think this is going to be a great base model for you. So, that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

For an exact replacement vent you can use the same part # V2119-3-533 . If you mean you're looking for the replacement lid then that would be part # BVD0449-A03 .
