Review of Westlake Tires and Wheels LHAX425

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Westlake st235/85r16 radio trailer tire in a low range G. On this 16 inch length silver aluminum wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel is a nice aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lite weight, rust proof. And it is the 8 spoke length series design, has a nice machine face and lip, and then a silver accent between the spokes.

And they do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front to protect the wheel from any scuffs and scratches. Now they also use, right where the lug holes are, they have steel inserts in the lug nut wells. This helps keep the wheel securely in place on the hub, prevents the holes from elongating, and eliminates the need for constant re tightening of your lug nuts. The tire is a Westlake radial tire. It's constructed with double steel belts and plies for a nice long life. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation.

It is a radial ply tire, so it's great for highway use. These tires are shipped with nitrogen inside of them. They are inflated with nitrogen. That's why they have the green valve cap on the valve stem. This nitrogen will maintain the pressure for longer periods than standard air, and it helps prolong life for your tire and wheel.

This tire is a special trailer tire design, so it does couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is created specifically for trailers, not intended for any use on any other vehicles. This whole assembly does come with a complementary roadside assistance for two years from the date of purchase. Basically, if your RV or trailer has a flat tire, you just call their help line, and a technician will come out and change a flat for you. And you can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, from anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. This tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT or Department of Transportation specifications.

It does not come with the center cap. If you do prefer a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. And we usually list them on the product page as a related product. A few specs on this, starting with the wheel. The wheel diameter, which is always measured inside to inside, or bead seat to bead seat, is 16 inches. The width on just the wheel is 6 inches wide. The wheel does have a bolt pattern of 8 on 6 1/2 inches. And if you ever wanted to measure that on the wheel, it's an even number of lugs. It's pretty easy. All you have to do is pick one of the lug holes, measure from the center of that hole, directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it will measure 6 1/2 inches. So 8 plug, 6 1/2 inches bolt. The wheel will accept a wheel lug size of either 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 28. The weight capacity on just the wheel is 3,960 pounds.Pilot hole diameter, it's the large here in the center of the wheel. It goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is 4.9 inches. The tire size, which will be stamped on the side wall, st for special trailer, 235/85r16, the R means it's a radial designed tire. It has a section width, let me turn it this way, of 9.3 inches. Overall diameter, from the very bottom to the very top when it's inflated, is 31.7. This tire is a load range G, which means it's a 14 ply rated tire. So it has a matching load capacity of 4,400 pounds. Add 110 PSI.And the last thing I do want to mention is most all the trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating now. And a speed rating, they always designate on a tire by a letter designation. And where you find that is right after the size we just went over. You'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter L. Speed rating L will mean it has a speed rating of 75 miles per hour. That should do it for the review on the Westlake st235/85r16 radial trailer tire in a low range G, on the 16 inch link silver aluminum wheel, with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
