etrailer Hitch Extender - e28YR Review

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we'll take a look at the etrailer 14-inch-long, 2-inch hitch extender. Now this hitch extender will install into your 2-inch hitch receiver and it'll extend your trailer hitch receiver opening out from the rear of your vehicle to help you avoid any obstacles. It'll get you extra clearance for your trailer. It can even allow you to mount your bike rack without having to remove your rear-mounted spare tire. This is a nice solid steel shank back here, has a nice black powder coat finish over the whole part to resist rust and corrosion.

Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. Same here, whatever you install into here will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those items are not included. We do sell those separately on our website. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch.

Again, the application, it's for a 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receiver opening. Up front here, you have a 2-inch by 2-inch hitch receiver size, maximum gross trailer weight capacity, which is stamped on the side is 3,500 pounds, maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds. Now, one note I do wanna mention, and it is also stamped on the side here, using this extender will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 50%. So you do wanna be aware of that. Now I do wanna give you some dimensions on this.

We're gonna start with the extension length. This extends out 14 inches, and that measurement is from the center of this hitch pin hole to the center of that hitch pin hole, so if we take our ruler and we go center to center, there's your 14 inch measurement. Overall length from this end to this end is gonna be right at 19 1/2 inches. Now the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the shank, it's right at 3 inches. And then from the center of the hitch pin hole to where the weld starts is right at 3 inches also.

But that should do it for the review on this etrailer 14-inch-long, 2-inch hitch extender..
