etrailer Hitch Extender - e68YR Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this etrailer seven inch long, 1 1/4 inch hitch extender. Now, this hitch extender will install into a 1 1/4 inch hitch receiver and it'll extend your trailer hitch receiver opening seven inches out from the rear of your vehicle to avoid any obstacles. Gives you extra clearance for your hitch accessories and allow you to mount your bike rack without having to remove your rear mounted spare tire. Now, this is stamped on the top here.

It's not for towing use. This is a solid steel shank. Has a nice, matte black powder coat finish over a protective base coat. And it's the same finish that we use on our etrailer hitches to give you superior rust resistance. Now, this does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure this to the hitch receiver and the accessory.

Those items are sold separately on our website. The hitch pin hole diameter on here, both of these is a half an inch. Application, again, fits a 1 1/4 inch by 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver. Gives you a hitch receiver opening up here of 1 1/4 inch by 1 1/4 inch. Maximum tongue weight, which is stamped on here is 350 pounds.

Now, also a note that's put on here is just to let you know, using an extender like this will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 50%, so you do need to be aware of that. Now, the extension length we mentioned is seven inches and that's the center of this hitch pin hole to the center of this one. So you can see, if we put a ruler on that, that's gonna be right at seven inches center to center. Overall length, one end to the other end is 10 1/2 inches. Now, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole at the rear of the shank here to the very end of the shank, it's gonna be right at 1 1/2 inches.

And at the front, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the front opening, it's gonna be right at two inches. But that should do it for the review on the etrailer seven inch long, 1 1/4 inch hitch extender..
