etrailer Hitch Extender - e88YR Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this etrailer eight inch long, two inch hitch extender. Now, this hitch extender will install into your two inch hitch receiver and extend your trailer hitch opening about eight inches out from the rear of your vehicle to help avoid obstacles. This will give you extra clearance for your trailer and allow you to mount your bike rack without having to remove your rear mounted spare tire. This is a solid steel shank right here in the back.

And you could see it has a nice, matte black powder coat finish over a protective base coat. And it's the same finish that we use on our etrailer hitches to give you superior rust resistance. Now, when you do install this, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure this to your hitch receiver. And also, any accessory you put in there to secure that. Those items are not included.

We do sell those separately on our website. These hitch pin hole diameters are 5/8 of an inch. Application, again, this fits into a two inch by two inch regular hitch receiver opening. Up front, it'll get you a two inch by two inch hitch receiver size. Does have a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds, which is stamped on here.

Maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds. And also, there's a note on here. Just wanna let you know, using this extender will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 50%, so you do wanna be aware of that. Now, we mentioned the extension length is eight inches and that's measured from the center of this hitch pin hole to the center of this one. If we take our tape measure and go center to center, there's your eight inch extension.

Overall length, front to back, it's right at 12 1/2 inches. And then the distance from the center of this hitch pin hole to the rear of the shank, it's gonna be right at two inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to where this weld is, is right at three inches. But that should do it for the review on this etrailer eight inch long, two inch hitch extender..
