etrailer Hitch Locks - Standard Hitch Pin - E98881 Review

Today, we'll be taking a look at the trailer hitch receiver lock. This is going to be an extra long lock for a two and a half inch trailer hitch receiver. Or if you have one of those two inch hitches, that is a little bit wider than other ones, sometimes the factory hitches on some vehicles will be a little bit more bulky, maybe they're double-walled, this is going to work out well for you. It's machine from hardened 15 K stress proof steel. So it's going to have a higher steel strength and be able to handle those higher load ratings for any class five hitch. We'll have a dust cover over our locks, so it's going to keep out any dirt or debris and water it's going to help prevent that lock from becoming damaged over time. And the way this works is it's actually a screw and lock system, so it's going to be pick proof.

And whenever that cylinder is engaged, you can't spin it from the other side, so if you're worried about somebody being able to just unthread it by turning this end, they actually can't since that pin is machine with two flat sides to match up with that silver cylinder. So it can only rotate by that lock cylinder screw and not the whole system. So something to just keep in mind there. On the inside, you'll see that little bolt, that little screw, that's going to keep everything tight and secure. I'm going to throw this on just a little bit so we can see the widest possible, length that we can make this. Now, whenever it's just a few threads on, it's not quite as secure as when it's threaded all the way.

So you do want to thread it as much as you can, but just to give you an idea of the range, it's about three and three quarter inches that we can get out of this. And then when it's all the way tight, it's about three and five eights. So a little bit of adjustment there as far as the span of this lock.Again, it's going to be its most secure whenever that bolt is threaded all the way down, I just liked that you can kind of tighten it down against that hitch to make it more flush.Comes with two keys, you can get locks keyed alike, so if you want to have a couple of these handy, you can get them all keyed the same so that you only need one set of keys for each of them, instead of having several different sets and how to remember which one goes where. The way to do that would be to go to our product page here at and then use the dropdown menu to get those key to like quantities.Has these little grooves on either end, so it's going to make it easier to grip in all weather, even if you're wearing gloves. It's a pretty nice weight to it as well.

The pin diameter is five eighths, so it'll work for class three, class four and class five hitches, but with that higher tensile strength, it's designed for the two and a half inch hitches that also have that wider width. The overall length is about six and seven eighths. This black end is about one and three eights inches long. And then our silver end is about one and seven eighths inches long. So you need that much clearance on either side to be able to get this in place, so something to keep in mind there. This is a made in the USA product and Ganz just going to help to keep any of your hitch mounted accessories safe and secure. And that's going to do it for our look at the trailer hitch receiver lock..
