Review of etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums AKHD-655-35-K

Today we're going to take a look at the 10-inch trailer hub and drum assembly for a 3500 pound axle. It has the 6 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern. Now, this trailer hub and drum assembly will include the bearing races, and they are pre-installed in the hub. You can see the outer race right here, and the inner race right here on the back of it. It also includes both inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, the grease cap, and the lug nuts. This hub and drum assembly will work with both electric and hydraulic brakes.

Again, the application is for 3500 pound axles. It has the bolt pattern of 6 on 5.5 inches. When we say a 10-inch trailer hub and drum assembly, what we're measuring is the inside of this drum. Basically, this is designed to work with 10-inch brake assemblies, so if we measure the inside diameter on this drum, you can see it's going to be right at 10 inches. The inner bearing right here, which is the larger of the two, it's part number L68149, has an inner diameter of 1.378 inches. Again, that will go right in the inner bearing, just like that.

The grease seal has an overall diameter of 2.565. That would tap in just like that, to hold that all in place. I'm just showing you where they go. Actually, you would be greasing up these bearings when you do put them in. The outer bearing, which is the smaller one, it's part number L44649, has an inner diameter of 1.063, and as you can see, that will go right on the outer bearing race, just like that.

Then the center cap, the grease cap, has a flange diameter of 1.988 inches. That will tap right on top of that to hold all that in. Then last, we have 6 lug nuts, which are the half inch by 20 size, and those are designed that, once this is installed on your axle, you go to out your wheel and tire up on the studs, then you use your lug nuts to tighten it down and hold your wheel some way up onto the hub and drum. You do want, when you tighten those down, you want to make sure you're talking to the specs recommended for your application. That should do it for the review of the 10-inch trailer hub and drum assembly for a 3500 pound axle with the 6 on 5.5 inch bolt pattern.
