etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub - AKIHUB-655-35-EZ-K Review

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Pre- Greased Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500 pound Lube Axles and this has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. Now this trailer hub assembly will fit an easy lube idler axle and an idler axles and axle that does not have any breaks and the easy lube design is an axle that has the grease Zerk fitting that's on the end of the spindle and allows you to pump the grease into the bearings without having to disassemble or remove the hub.Now this one happens to be a pre-greased idler hub. It's very easy to install. There's no need to pack the bearings or install the grease seal. It comes already installed and greased, ready to go.They do use a lithium complex multi-purpose grease to keep the bearings lubricated.

You can see it has the cover on the front and one on the back here; helps keep the grease in the hub. So basically when you receive these, all you do is remove these covers, slide it onto the spindle, install your grease cap and you're all ready to go.Now it does include the pre-greased inner and outer bearings on the inside. The bearing races are pre-installed. The grease seal, right here in the back, if I pop the cover off, you can see that's already installed. You're don't have to worry about pressing that into place and it comes with the easy lube grease cap and the easy lube grease cap has this nice rubber plug in it because I was mentioning you have that Zerk fitting on the spindle. So when this is installed you can just pop this up, access that grease Zerk fitting with a grease gun, pump the grease in, when you're done, put that plug right back in.

It also comes with the 6-1/2" by 20 size lug nuts. Now this is a sturdy iron construction. They do use a zinc enriched paint finish on it. It is QAO and CSA certified.Specs, again this is designed to fit a 3,500 pound easy lube trailer axle with the number 84 spindles and this is compatible with most standard axles from most manufacturers including Dexter, Lippert and AL-KO.It works with a 14" to 16-1/2" diameter wheel. We mentioned the bolt pattern is a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.Wheel stud dimensions, a half inch diameter and the weight capacity on this hub is 1,750 pounds. So when this is used with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet your 3,500 pound axle rating. Now bearings we've mentioned that are included in this, the inner bearing is a L68149 part number.

Outer is L44649. The grease seal that's installed is a 58846 and the grease cap and plug we mentioned, that's part number DC200L-DCRP. The lug nuts part number is CE11051.But that should do it for the review on the Pre-Greased Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500 pound Easy Lube Axles and it has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.
