Best 2020 Ram 2500 Tonneau Cover Options

Collin: Today, We're going to take a look at the best Tonneau covers for your Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 for the years 2019 and 2020. When it comes to choosing a Tonneau cover four-year Ram, you do have a lot of different options. The four basic styles are going to be your soft covers right here. These can be available in either the panel folding design or in the role of design. We're going to have our hard roll-up covers right here, which will roll up to the cab of our truck. We're going to have our canister roll up.

So instead of rolling up towards the cab of the truck, they're going to roll up into a canister that's sitting in the bed of our truck right by the bulkhead. And then you're going to have the hard folding covers, which is what we have installed on our Ram right now. With these, they're going to fold up towards the cab of your Ram and instead having that soft cover design, they're just made out of durable aluminum panels. This can give you partial bed access, or in some cases, we could even lift it up towards the cab of the truck for full bed access. Now, when comparing all of the different styles of covers that are going to have their pros and cons. I'm going to go through some of those.

And hopefully, it's going to give you the information you need to choose the right cover for your Ram. We'll start over here with our soft covers. These are going to be your more basic or entry-level type covers. And like I said, you can have them in the panel design like this one is, or even the role of design, which is going to be very low profile. But one thing these could work on is they're not the best when it comes to security. They do a great job of keeping the elements out of your truck bed, but there's not much separating the inside of the truck bed and the outside.

It's just going to have this one thin layer of vinyl. Now, right here, we're going to have our hard roll-up covers. These are kind of big, kind of a hybrid of the soft roll-up covers and the hard folding covers. Basically when we roll it up, it goes up towards the cab of the vehicle and it rolls on top of itself all the way to the cab. You can travel with it in this position.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that it is going to be taking away from your visibility in their rear view glass. However, what's nice is that it's not takin up any truck bed space at all. You're going to have full access. Now over here with our canister option, this is going to be very similar to the roll-up covers. However, instead of rolling up towards the cab of the truck, there's a canister sitting inside your vehicle that collects the cover for storage. Now, this is not taking away any visibility at all from your rear view glass, but it does sit inside the truck bed and take up that little bit of space. Could range anywhere from a foot to foot and a half. And that's just that much space you're losing for truck, bed storage. And now with our hard folding covers, these are all going to operate pretty similarly. Once you either pull the wire or turn the latch, you can unfold it. And with these covers, they're going to be top of the line most durable covers that. It is made out of a very durable aluminum construction. But one thing to keep in mind with these is that they do get heavier as you fold it back. And especially if you have a lifted truck or even a height restriction, could get difficult lifting it up constantly. And even if you have those long bed pickups, that's gets even tougher. And in some cases you can travel with it in this position, by using the buckles to secure it, or with certain covers, not all of them. This one happens to be one of them that you can do it. You can fold it up towards the cab of your vehicle for full truck bed access. But as you can see, we're completely covering our rear window. So we're not going to have any type of visibility out of it, but we could go back down here. And as you can see, we have full visibility. However, is taken up about a quarter of our truck bed space right now. Now, while each style of cover is going to protect your truck bed from the elements, there are still some other things to consider when choosing a cover. One of them, you want to consider bed security. If that's something that's important to you, then I would advise leaning over to these hard shell covers. Just their construction, just going to make them very durable, make it a very hard to get into. But if that's not something that's too important to you, then over here with our soft covers, these still look great. And they're going to protect your truck bed from the elements. Now, obviously another thing you're going to be thinking about is the budget you have for your cover. Now over here with our three hard shell options, you are going to spend a little bit more money on them, but they do have more features and offer better bed security due to they're more durable construction. But if you're just looking for something to simply cover the bed of your truck and keep out the rain and other elements, you're going to save a little bit more on the soft covers. Now, when it comes to me personally, and what kind of cover I want on my truck, I go to the hard roll of covers. And even though, like I said, they're very similar to the canister option, I care more about having that full bed access rather than taking up some of my visibility in my review glass. But honestly, and you might find this on your application, if you roll the cover all the way up to the cab of the truck, more times than not, it's only going up to the height of your rear headrests for your back seats. So it's not taking away too much visibility. And like I said, personally, I just really like having that full bed access to use.And I just also like the way that these operate that is very easy to roll back and then lock into place. And then I also do have that extra bed security. Well. I hope that this information helped you guys out in deciding which cover is going to best suit your needs, but really when it comes down to it personally, I think you should just make sure you get the cover that you're going to be the happiest with on your truck and then what's going to make it look the best..
