How to Install the B and W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Ford F-250

Today on our 2015 Ford F250, we're gonna be taking a look at the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3370. Now, our fifth-wheel hitch is gonna allow us to tow a fifth-wheel trailer, and since it has a slider base on it, it's gonna give us that extra clearance when we're making tight turns so our trailer doesn't come in contact with our cab. Our handle's down here. It's gonna have it labeled. It's in the locked position. If we go to the unlocked position, we're gonna be able to slide our hitch a full 12 inches to give us that extra clearance.

This is gonna be extremely beneficial for trucks that don't have a full eight-foot bed. Whether you're going to the campground or going through a parking lot with your trailer, you can come out, unlock our slider here, and we're gonna be able to make those turns and not have to worry about our trailer crushing the side of our cab. Now, the head on our hitch is gonna articulate front to back and side to side, and that's gonna help reduce chucking. Now, our hitch is gonna feature a one-inch jaw here. Now, it is a two-piece, unlike a lot of the one-piece with a lock bar model. This is gonna make 360-degree-contact with the kingpin, and give us a nice, quiet ride, reducing the rattle. To open our jaws, we have a tethered safety pin to keep everything locked in place and we won't lose it.

Now we're just gonna reach back, and by pulling the handle back towards the cab, it's gonna open up our jaws. Then we pull our trailer up and our kingpin comes in, it's gonna make contact, and the cam-action on the lever is gonna automatically close. Where our pivot arm is going to meet our head here, it's gonna have a nice rubber bushing so that we know we're gonna have a comfortable, quiet ride. Now, the B&W here is gonna have a 20,000 pound gross trailer weight rating as well as a 5,0000 pound vertical load limit. I do want to mention, you always want to double check with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your truck can handle that weight. It also features a gray powder coat finish, so it's gonna look great in any truck that you put it in. The nice feature about this fifth-wheel hitch is that it's not permanent, and since we have the factory tow package, we are gonna be able to remove it and still have access to our bed.

To remove the head of our fifth-wheel, we're gonna pull the cotter pin back here, and we're gonna remove the pin on each side. Then if we lift on our handle here on both sides, our head will come right off. Down on our base here, we're gonna have a safety pin. If we take our safety pin out, and we're gonna rotate these handles till they're facing the outside of the vehicle. That'll unlock it from our factory rails underneath, and if we do that on both sides, we'll be able to lift the base out.

With everything pulled out, then all we have left is put our factory pucks in place, and we have full bed access. That'll finish up the look at the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3370 on our 2015 Ford F250.
