How to Install the Bargman Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness on a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500

Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, I'm going to walk through how to install the Bargman Gooseneck Fifth Wheel 90 Degree Wiring Harness on our 2018 GMC Sierra 2,500.Adding wiring like this, in the bed of your truck, is going to allow you when you're hooked up your fifth wheel or gooseneck, to plug it in inside the bed. You're not going to have to take your cord, hang it over top of your tailgate, and plug it in down by your bumper. It's going to give you your seven pole connection, casing is a very durable plastic casing, so we're not going to have to worry about damage. We're going to have a spring loaded lid. On the underside of the lid, it's going to have a foam ring on it, and what it does, it seals right around here, to keep any dirt, debris, and moisture from getting onto our connections. It's going to plug directly into our factory seven pole plug on the back of our vehicle. And if you notice right here on the lid, this is going to tell us what each one of our pins or each one of our wires are doing inside of the wiring harness. This wiring harness is also going to come with an extension plate and where this goes, it actually would mount right behind the backside of the plug here, to give you that added space in case the 90 degree section of your wiring makes contact with the outside of the bed.Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's walk through the installation together.

To begin our installation, we need to determine where we're going to put our plug.Usually, this area or in this area is the best place. I'm actually going to bring mine down just a little bit. I'm going to put it about right here. You're going to need a two inch hole saw bit with a drill bit on it.Be careful when drilling through. If you have a longer drill bit, you want to make sure you're not going to hit the other side or the outside of the bed, so just take your time with this.Once you get your whole drilled, take a file and file the burrs off on the inside, so it doesn't damage your wiring.

Take some spray paint, some Rust-Oleum spray paint or clear coat, coat that bare metal to reduce the risk of rust later on down the road. Now we're going to take the two plugs on our wiring. Go ahead and feed them into the hole. Let them fall down underneath the bed and we can mount our plug. Now, we'll take our self-tapping screws that come in our kit, get it lined up.Now we can go underneath the vehicle and get our wiring plugged in. Here, I tied up my extra right onto the bottom of the bed, ran it over top of my frame rail, right here.

We want to try and stay on this side because you got to keep in mind that we have our spare tire going up. We want to make sure our wiring doesn't get damaged. Now what we're going to do, is we're going to take our factory plug. We're going to go ahead and unplug it. Now, what I want to do is I'm going to take some dielectric grease. If you don't have any dielectric grease, you can find some here at etrailer.com.We're going to cover up our connection.

This is going to help any moisture or anything like that, it helps keep the connections from corroding. We're gonna take a new plug, plug two together. Now, we're going to test out our wiring using an alternate power source. It's going to simulate being hooked up to our camper. Left turn, right turn, brake lights, running lights. Now that we know everything is working correctly, we're ready to go. Again, I'm Shane, with etrailer.com. I hope this video has helped you, whether you're still deciding or installing the Bargman 90 Degree Wiring Harness on our 2018 GMC Sierra 2,500.
