How to Install the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness on a 2018 Ford F-250 Super

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Bargman Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness for Aluminum Truck Beds, part number 54701-007-010.Here's what our wiring is going to look like once we have it installed. This going to allow us to have a seven way RV connector in the bed of our truck. That way if we have a gooseneck or a fifth wheel we'll have easy access to it right here. This is going to have a rubber tight gasket inside of here to make sure that it seals up nice and well. Our connector here is going to provide us with all of our lighting functions, a 12 volt power source, and our brake output for our trailer brakes. This is really going to help out whenever we go to hook up our gooseneck or a fifth wheel.

We're not going to have to worry about draping the cable over the tailgate and reaching underneath and plugging it in because once we hook up we'll have clear access right here at the back of the tailgate. Our connector is going to come down and it's going to connect to two factory connectors that are going to be on the driver's side at the bottom of the frame here. It's also going to come with about seven feet of wire, so we're going to have plenty of wire to mount it just about anywhere we want inside the truck bed. Now our wiring is specifically made for our Ford truck because we're going to have these two plugs underneath from the factory that it's going to plug directly into. The nice thing about our wiring is that it's not going to affect the wiring at the back of our bumper. We're still going to use it just normal.

Now that we've seen what our wiring looks like and gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation we're going to want to find the spot that we're going to mount the plug. Now in ours we're going to mount ours just on the side of the bed here, just to the inside of the tailgate for easy access. You're going to want to start with a pilot hole. You want to be careful when you're drilling not to go too far and hit the outside of the fender. Now we're going to grab a two inch hole saw and drill out the final size.

Now the key to this is you want to make sure you get your drill pit in the pilot hole and go nice and slow so you get a nice even cut. It's never a good idea to leave exposed metal on your vehicle, so I'm going to come back with some clear spray paint to help prevent any kind of corrosion from happening. Now we're going to take the end that has the two plugs on it and we're going to feed them into the side of the bed rail there. We're going to feed the cable all the way down until we get pretty close to the plug on the other end. Now for right now I'm just going to leave this about here. What we can do is we can actually put this spacer in behind our plug.

You just take the open end, go around the wires, slide it into place, and then I'll push it out a little bit farther. Now it's not required, but if you do want it to stick out a little bit more, you just put that plastic spacer behind the plug itself. Now our kit is going to come with two different sets of screws. Since this is a Ford with an aluminum truck bed, you want to make sure you use the aluminum self-tapping screws. Now the easiest way to figure out which ones which is I have a magnetic nut driver on here, aluminum is not going to be magnetic, but the steel screws are going to stick in there. We'll start with one of them in one of the corners. We'll make sure that our plug is nice and level and in the position that we want it. We'll take one of the screws, we'll start in one corner. Once we have our plug sitting in the position where we want it, we'll drive the one screw into the bed of the truck. Now that we have that first one in we'll go ahead and do the other three as well.We came underneath and our wire came down right on the outside of the fender here. Then I actually took it and I just passed it through the spring perch where my two plugs came out right here. We're going to have our two factory plugs that we're going to plug into right next to it. Now each one of them is going to have this little tab on it. We're just going to want to press that in and we can pull the plug out. Now when you are installing this you want to make sure that you have these two plugs because if you don't there are kits available that will plug directly into the seven way at the back of the bumper. Now when we go to plug our connectors in we're going to take a little bit of dielectric grease and I'm going to fill the plug up. Hopefully that will prevent any kind of corrosion and moisture from getting inside there. We'll find the corresponding plug and make sure it locks into place. We'll do the same thing for the other plug.We just took some zip ties and zip tied it to the bottom of the frame. That way it will be in a nice neat bundle and it will be out of the way. I went ahead and hooked up my tester to make sure all the circuits are going to work properly. When I turn on my headlights we can see that those signals are working, as well as the left turn, the right turn, and my brakes. Since we have a brake controller in our truck we can make sure that the manual override is working as well. The seven way at the bumper is not going to be affected at all. All of our functions are still going to work just like normal, and our reverse lights even work as well. That will finish up our look at the Bargman Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness for Aluminum Truck Beds, part number 54701-007-010 on our 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty.
