How to Install the CIPA Clamp on Universal Fit Towing Mirror on a 2012 Toyota 4Runner

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4 Runner, we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA Universal Bar Clamp On Towing Mirror, part number CM11980. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up, but this is the view you'd get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be adjusted to most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side for a different view.

By loosening up the large nut up top here, it allows us to extend it out to further suit our towing needs. When we get it where we want it we can just tighten it up. Each one of our clips here is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. The knob here on the back allows us to adjust our mirror along the bar. That way we can level it up with our factory mirror. It uses two rubber clamps so we don't have to worry about it harming our finish, and since it doesn't use straps it doesn't cover up our turn signal either.

A few great things about this towing mirror are is for one it's for temporary use, so you can take it off when you're not towing. Another great thing about this mirror is that it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the family it may fit those as well. Now the mirror does come in a quantity of one so if you would like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number. Now we'll show you how easy it is to get installed. So I'm here on the driver side of my Toyota 4 Runner, to begin our test fit we need to make sure that our clamps here are opened up enough so we can easily slide it along the top portion of our housing. We can do that by loosening up the knobs here.

Once we ensured we've got enough space we can go ahead and slide it in place. Now it's going to slide between the mirror and the top portion of the housing, and I'm just going to center it up with my mirror. So once we get it all the way on, I'm going to hold it in place and then tighten up the knobs. It's that easy. Then we can adjust our mirror how we want, and we're ready to tow. That's going to complete our test fit of the CIPA Universal Bar Clamp On Towing Mirror, part number CM11980 on our 2012 Toyota 4 Runner..
