How to Install the CIPA Clamp On Universal Fit Towing Mirror on a 2017 Buick Envision

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Buick Envision, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Cipa universal bar clamp on towing mirror, part number CM11980. It offers a wide field of view. It's gonna allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a small trailer or a camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Now, if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see, there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up. But now this the view you get with just your factory mirror.

The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees. So if you'd like to keep it at that horizontal position for a different view, you have that option. Now it also can be adjusted to most angles. Got it up and down, diagonal, and side to side. By loosening up the large nut up top here, it will allow us to extend our mirror out to further suit our towing needs. The knob here on the backside, by loosening it up, is gonna allow us to adjust our mirror along the bar.

Once we've got it set where we want, just tighten it up. As you can see, our two clamps are not gonna interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror and we can even still fold it in. Here on the backside, most towing mirrors use straps to secure them in place. Those can obstruct your turn signals. This towing mirror just uses two clamps on top.

A few great things about this towing mirror are is for one, it's for temporary use, so you can take it off when you're done towing. Another great thing is it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs that you tow with in the household, it may work with those as well. Now the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to install. So I'm here on the driver's side of my Envision. To begin our test, let's go ahead and turn our mirror over and take a closer look at our clamps.

You'll notice that there's the bottom portion of the clamp here and then the rubber portion here. Now we needed to make sure that the space between there is large enough so we can easily fit it into our housing. Now when we put it our position, I want to point out that our clamps do rotate so they can match the curvature over our mirror. Just going to center it up. Hold it in position and then tighten down our knobs. It's that simple. Once we've got it tightened down, we can position our mirror how we want and then we're ready to tow.And that's gonna complete our test fit of the Cipa universal bar clamp on towing mirror, part number CM11980 on our 2017 Buick Envision.
