How to Install the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2016 Jeep Compass

Today on our 2016 Jeep Compass, we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 7070. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. Now, if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see, there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up, but this is the view you get with just your standard mirror. The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees, so if you like that horizontal view, you have that option. It can also be adjusted to most angles.

We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side. Each one of the clips is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the back side, it uses two rubber straps to hold it in place around the factory housing. The nice thing about them being rubber is you're going to get that extra good grip, so it's going to snug the back side of the mirror. The other nice thing about them being rubber is you don't have to worry about it harming the finish of the mirror. Now, the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number.

Now, I'll show you how to get it installed. Let's go ahead and turn our mirror over. We need to make sure that each one of our tabs here with the little lip on it is going to clip on to the inside edge of the housing. Also want to open up our arms a little bit, turn it back over, and then set it in place. Now, I'm just going to center it up with my mirror here. Once I've got it where I want it, I'll come around to the back side and run our straps. Now, when we run our straps, we want to make sure that there's a little bit of tension on them already that when we clip it place it holds the mirror in place.

Raise it up, slip it on that top hook. We can adjust that strap how we want, make sure everything's where we want it, and then repeat the same process with our next strap. If we want to tighten it or loosen it, we can just guide the strap up through and then pull it down through the other side, but for right now, we'll go ahead and hook it on top and then we can adjust our strap where we want. Make sure it's going to hold secure and that's it. We're ready to tow. That's going to complete our test fit on the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 7070, on our 2016 Jeep Compass..
