How to Install the CIPA Dual-View Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Today on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be doing a test fit of the CIPA Dual View Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 11953. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a small trailer or camper. As you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Between the larger and the smaller mirror, the larger one is going to give an accurate perspective of what's behind us, while the smaller one acts as a spot mirror. It's going to increase safety when changing and passing lanes.

Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailer as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up, but this is the view you'd get with just your factory mirror. Both the larger and the smaller mirror can be adjusted to most angles. I've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side. Each one of our tabs is not going to interfere with the operation of movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the backside it uses two adjustable rubber straps to secure it in place. The nice thing about them being rubber is you don't have to worry about them harming or scratching the finish of our mirror. Down here you can see it only covers up a portion of our turn signal, so we still have full operation of it.

Underneath you can see that the two straps do not cover up our puddle lamp. A few great things about this towing mirror are, for one it's for temporary use so you can take it off when you're done towing. Another great thing is it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the household it may work with those as well. Now the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to install. So I'm here on the driver's side of my Cherokee.

To begin our test let's go ahead and turn our mirror over and turn our attention to these two knobs. By loosening them up it's going to allow us to extend our arms out so we can easily fit it, and correctly fit it around our mirror. So with the me loosened up let's go ahead and turn it over. We want to make sure that each one of our tabs clips on to the inside of the housing. So I'll set it in place, get it right where I want it, then I'll hold it in place, and then I'll come around to the backside and tighten it by knobs. So as you can see here on the backside we had some minor adjustment, let's go ahead and tighten those down, and then run our straps.

Now when we run our straps we want to make sure there's a little bit of tension on them already. That way when we hook it in place it holds the mirror in place. So we'll stretch it up over, and connect to that top hook. Then we can adjust the strap as needed. We could just repeat the same process for our second strap. If we want to tighten it or loosen it we can push it up through, and pull it down through the other side. Let's go ahead and connect it on top and we're ready to tow. It's that easy. That's going to complete our test fit of the CIPA Dual View Clip On Towing Mirror, part number 11953, on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee.
