How to Install the CIPA Dual-View Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2017 Toyota Highlander

Today, on our 2017 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be doing a test fit of the CIPA 00:00:03 dual view clip-on towing mirror, part number 11953. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or a camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. Between the two mirrors, the larger one's going to give us an accurate perspective of what's behind us. The smaller mirror is going to be our spot mirror.

It's going to increase safety when passing cars and changing lanes. Now, if I take a few steps towards my trailer, as you can see, there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up. This is the view you get with just your factory mirror. Both the larger and the smaller mirror can be adjusted to most angles. Got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side. Each one of our tabs is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in.

Here on the back side, two adjustable rubber straps hold it in place. The nice thing about them being rubber is they're going to help grip that back side of that mirror, and they're also not going to cause any harm to the finish of our mirror. Here you can see that the straps do not interfere with our turn signal. A few great things about this towing mirror are is for one, it's for temporary use, so you can take it off when you're done towing. Another great thing is it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the household, it may work with those as well.

Now, the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. I'm here on the driver side of my Toyota Highlander. To begin my test fit, let's go ahead and turn our mirror over and turn our attention to these two knobs here. By loosening them up, it's going to allow us to extend our arms out so we can easily and correctly fit it around our mirror. We also want to be sure that each one of our tabs here with the lip on it clips onto the inside of the housing.

I'm just going to center it up with my mirror, hold it in place, and then come around to the backside and tighten up my knobs. Here, you can see I had some minor adjustment. Let's go ahead and tighten those up and then run our straps. Now, when we run our straps, we want to make sure there's a little bit of tension on them already, that way when we clip it in place, it holds the mirror in place. Go ahead and raise it up, and clip it on the top. We can adjust the strap if needed. Now, if we want to tighten it or loosen it, we can guide the strap up through and pull it down through the other side. Let's go ahead and clip it in place and we're all set to tow. It's that easy. That's going to complete our test fit of the CIPA dual view clip-on towing mirror, part number 11953 on our 2017 Toyota Highlander.
