How to Install the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2014 Infiniti QX60

Today on our 2014 Infiniti QX60 we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA Universal Clip On Towing Mirror, part number 7070. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or a small camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees, so if you'd like to keep it that horizontal position you have that option. Now, it can also be adjusted to most angles.

We've got our up and down, diagonal, and then side to side. Here you can see each one of our clips is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the back side it uses two rubber straps to secure it in place around the mirror. They're nice and tight. You can see the mirror is not going anywhere. The nice thing about them being rubber is we don't have to worry about them scratching or harming the finish of our mirror.

I'd also like to point out you can see with the mirror on we've got a little camera down here; it's not covering it up. One of the best things about this towing mirror is, is that it's for temporary use. If you do a lot of towing or not a lot of towing, it's easy to install and remove. Another great thing is that it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the family it may work for those as well. Now, the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. To begin our test fit let's go ahead and turn our mirror over.

We want to make sure that each one of these tabs here with the lip on it clips onto the inside of the top and bottom of the housing. Let's go ahead and turn it over and set it in place. The bottom looks good, now the top's good. Now as you can see, I'm just centering it up with my mirror here. Then we can come around to the back side and run our straps. Now, when we run our straps we want to make sure there's a little bit of tension on them already.

That way when we clip it in place it holds the mirror in place. We'll just raise it up and clip it on that top hook, just like that. Then we can run our second strap. Now, if we want to tighten it or loosen it we can guide the strap up through and then pull it down through the other side. I'd say that looks pretty good. Bring it up, adjust that strap, and now we're ready to tow. It's that simple. That's going to complete our test fit on the CIPA Clip On Towing Mirror, part number 7070 on our 2014 Infinity QX60.
