How to Install the CIPA Clamp On Universal Fit Towing Mirror on a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA universal fit towing mirror, which is also sold as a set.Whenever we use a towing mirror, that's really going to expand our field of view. That can be especially useful whenever we're backing up into a tight parking spot, maybe making a lane change, or just wanting to keep a closer eye on what's going on behind us. To give you an example on how much more ground we're going to be able to cover, so you can see I'm visible in our towing mirror, but not in our factory mirror. However, if I do take a few steps closer to our trailer, I'll disappear out of that towing mirror and become visible in our factory mirror. And that's really going to help eliminate any blind spots as well.Whenever we have our towing mirror in place, we do still have quite a bit of adjustability of our factory lens.

So we shouldn't have any issues finding that spot that we would normally use as we're going down the road. And if you do need to free up a little bit of space, you are able to fold your mirror completely in without any interference. Since this mirror uses clamps here at the top instead of straps, we're not going to have any interference at all with the turn signal on our factory mirror. One of the big questions we get asked in regards to universal fit towing mirrors is if you're going to have any vibration or noise, especially at higher speeds. Well, these clamps do do a pretty good job of connecting to the factory housing, but there is a little bit of movement here in the rod. So although it is a little shaky, I really don't see it being a huge issue, at least not enough to really bother you. But at the end of the day, a really simple way to give you a little more confidence and make you feel a little bit safer as you're pulling your trailer down the road. Now, as far as the installation goes, there's really nothing to it, and it is extremely simple.

Speaking of which, let's go ahead and put it on together now. To get it installed, you're just going to loosen up both of these knobs completely. That way the gap in here is quite large. And in between that gap is going to go your factory mirror housing. So it's going to slide on just like that.

You can hold it in place and then just tighten the clamps down. You don't have to really crank down on these things. You just want to make sure they're nice and snug. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the CIPA universal fit towing mirror on our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe.
