How to Install the CIPA Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2020 Toyota Highlander

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror, which is also sold as a set. Whenever we use a towing mirror, it's really going to expand our field of view and that's going to make us feel much safer because we're going to have a better idea on what's actually happening behind us. So it's really going to come in hand whenever we're making a lane change, backing up into a tight parking spot, or just want to make sure our trailer is getting pulled down the road correctly. So to give you an idea on how much more ground we're going to be able to cover, as you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not in our factory mirror. However, if I take a few steps over closer to our trailer, I'll disappear out of that towing mirror and become visible in our factory mirror. That's really going to help eliminate any of them blind spots as well. One of the big questions we get asked all the time in regards to universal fit towing mirrors is if you're going to have any rattle or vibration, especially at higher speeds, to be honest with you, this one fits really nice and tight against our factory housing.

So I really don't see that bothering you at all.So whenever we get inside and we need to adjust our factory lens, we're still going to be able to, we will lose a little bit of adjustability at the very end of each sweep, but for the most part, we're going to be able to maintain all those typical sweet spots that we would usually use. And if you ever do find yourself in a tight parking spot or something like that, you need to free up a little bit of space, you're still able to completely fold your mirrors in without making any contact. In the turn signal on our mirror, even though the strap does partly cover it, we're still able to see it clearly and maintain that safety feature. So the way our tow mirror is going to be held in place is by two straps and they're soft rubber so not only are they going to help kind of grip that factory mirror, but we're not going to have to worry about them scratching up the paint either. And since these mirrors are universal, chances are pretty good if you happen to have another vehicle in the household, they're probably going to work with that too, and if that is the case, it's really not a big deal to have to switch them over because they are really easy to put on and take off.So to get the mirror on, you're just simply going to hold it like this and push it flat against the factory mirror housing, trying to find the spot you want it, hold it at one place with your hand, and we can move around to the other side. From there, we can take the buckles on our strap, pull it around and clip them around these tabs. And if you got a second mirror, you'd simply just repeat the same process over on the other side. And that'll finish up our look at, and our installation of, the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror on our 2020 Toyota Highlander..
