How to Install the CIPA Clip-On Universal Fit Towing Mirrors on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Ryan: Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA universal fit towing mirror, which is also sold as a set. Whenever you use a towing mirror, it's really going to help expand our field of view. And that can really come in handy whenever you're making a lane change, maybe backing up into a tight parking spot, or you might just want to keep a closer eye on what's going on behind us.So to give you an example on how much more ground we're going to be able to cover, you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not in our factory mirror. However, if I take a few steps closer over to our trailer, I'll disappear out of that towing mirror and become visible in our factory mirror.

That's really going to help eliminate any of those blind spots as well. Now, one of the big questions we get asked all the time in regards to universal fit towing mirrors is if you're going to have any vibration or sound, especially at higher speeds. We'll be honest with you. This one does fit pretty good. It is relatively tight. There's a tiny bit of movement, but I really don't see that being enough to bother you.

So I've seen a lot of different towing mirrors and in my experience, most of the time, they're a little bit doll and foggy. The picture is whenever you look in the lens itself, and that's not the case at all with this one. And that's one of the things that kind of separates it. When you look into the towing mirror, the picture's nice and clear and sharp, so you can really see what's going on.And what's nice too. If you need to adjust your factory lens, you're still able to go back and forth and side to side.

Now there is a little bit of contact at the very end of each sweep, but we're still able to maintain all its typical sweet spots that we would usually use. And let's say, if you need to fold your mirror in for whatever reason, maybe you park on the street or something like that, we're still able to do that completely even with the tow mirror in place. So the straps that hold our mirror in place are made from a soft rubber material. That way, not only are they going to grip our factory mirror good, but we're not going to have to worry about them scratching up the paint either. What's great about these mirrors is the fact that they're universal. So chances are pretty good if you happen to have another vehicle in the household, they're probably going to be able to work with that too.

And if that's your case and you need to switch them around a bunch, it's really not a big deal because these are very easy to put on and take off. Speaking of which let's go ahead and put one on together now.So to get the mirror installed, you're just going to hold it like this. And these little tabs here are going to sit flat against our factory mirror housing. So just take it, hold it up into a nice spot where it's going to rest. Nice flush, hold it in place with one hand and move around to the other side. From there, we can just take our straps and the buckles on them. We're just going to loop over these tabs here. So they just snap on like that. And if you picked up a set, you'd simply just repeat the same process over on the other side. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the CIPA universal fit towing mirror on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee..
