How to Install the CIPA Dual-View Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2020 Jeep Cherokee

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CIPA Universal Fit Dual Lens Towing Mirror, which is also sold as a set. Whenever we use a towing mirror, it's really going to help expand our field of view. So, it can really come in handy whenever we're making a lane change, maybe backing up into a tight parking spot or just wanting to keep a closer eye on what's going on behind us. And since this one has the dual lens design, it kind of gives us a couple of takes or a couple of different angles at it, which is always nice. So, to give you an example on how much more ground are going to be able to cover, you can see I'm visible in our towing mirror, but not in our factory mirror. However, if I take a few steps closer to our trailer, I'll disappear out of that towing mirror and become visible in the factory mirror.

And that's really going to help eliminate any of those blind spots as well. So, one of the big questions we get asked all the time in regards to universal fit towing mirrors is if you're going to have any vibration or noise, especially at higher speeds. Well, this one does fit pretty good on our factory housing. If I move it around, there's a little bit of movement there, but I really don't see that being enough to bother you. What's nice too, if you want to adjust our factory lens, we're still able to go from side to side, and up and down. There will be a little bit of movement.

I'm sorry, contact at the end of each sweep, but we're still able to maintain all those typical sweet spots that we would usually use. Sometimes you do need to free up a little bit of space. And so, towing mirrors do extend the overall width of our Cherokee. And if you need to do that, you're still able to completely fold your mirrors in without any interference. Right now, I have the window down and it looks like it's really close, but even if we roll the window up, we're not going to make contact, so we don't have anything to worry about. So, the straps that actually hold the towing mirror in place are made from a soft rubber material.

So, not only are they going to really help kind of grip that factory mirror housing, we're not going to have to worry about the straps scratching up the paint either. Our sensor mirrors are universal. Chances are pretty good if you happen to have another vehicle in the household, they're probably going to work with it as well. And since they are so easy to put on and take off, it's not a huge deal to switch them around if you need to. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and put one on together now. To get our mirror installed, what we're going to do is just simply push it flat against our factory mirror.

So, we kind of find the spot we wanted, we'll hold it in place with one hand and move around to the other side. It's pretty simple from here on out. We're just going to take the little buckles here at the end of our strap and slip them over the tabs up here. And that's all there is to it. If you picked up a set of these, you'd simply just repeat the same process over on the other side. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the CIPA Universal Fit Dual Lens Towing Mirror on our 2020 Jeep Cherokee..
