How to Install the CIPA Clamp on Universal Fit Towing Mirror on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA Universal Bar Clamp On Towing Mirror, part umber CM11980. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. Now, if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up. This is a view you'd get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees, so if you like to turn it to that horizontal position for a different view, you have that option.

It could also be adjusted to most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal, and then side to side. By loosening up the large node up top here, we can extend our mirror out to further suit our towing needs. Here on the back side, the thumbscrew here allows us to adjust our mirror along the bar. The two clamps are not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we could even still fold it in.

Here on the back side it doesn't use any straps to hold it in place, just the two clamps on top, so we don't have to worry about it blocking our turn signal here or harming, scratching the finish on the back of our mirror. A nice thing about this towing mirror is it's for temporary use, so if you do light-duty towing or a lot of towing it's easy to install and remove. Another great thing is it's universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the family, it may work with those as well. The mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. On the driver's side of my Jeep Cherokee, to begin our test fit let's go ahead and turn our mirror over. We want to make sure that our two clamps here are opened up.

That way we can easily fit it onto our housing. We can loosen them up by turning the two thumbscrews here. We just need to make sure that the housing's going to go between the rubber portion here and the bottom portion of the clamp. Turn it back over, and I'm just going to center it up with my mirror here, push it all the way on, and then just tighten it down. It's that easy.

That's going to complete our test fit on the CIPA Universal Bar Clamp On Towing Mirror, part number CM11980 on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee.
