How to Install the CIPA Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Connor: Hey guys, Connor here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the CIPA clip on universal towing mirrors for our 2017 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. You see Potomac Mills here are going to be an excellent option for a Jeep Wrangler. They're going to allow us to see parts of our trailer that we wouldn't normally be able to see with the factory side mirrors. This is going to give us peace of mind when we're out in the highway so we can change lanes better. We don't have to worry about someone coming up on our blind spot and creating issues when we need to merge.

So what's great about these CIPA towing mirrors is that they're extremely adjustable. They're going to fit all different kinds of factory side mirrors because they have the three pivot points, which allow you to fit to different heights and width, as well as the adjustable straps on the back, which are super easy to use.And they allow you to see how tight of a fit you want in case adjustments are needed down the road. So these super towing mirrors here, they have a nice and large mirror face, which allows us to give us a clean unobstructed view of our trailer and everything we have behind the vehicle. Now as mentioned, these are again on a ball and socket joint, so they're super easy to rotate and adjust for what we need for each particular trailer. And just to give you a bit of reference, to see how much extended your view is, we can see I'm standing here beside the trailer, which you could easily see using the factory side mirrors.

However, if I was to step away from the trailer, I would then become out of view or the the factory side mirrors, which is where our CIPA towing mirrors come into place.Because now we can clearly see our blind spot. And now that we've gone over some of the benefits and features, let's show you how easy these are to install yourself, just tire installation. We want to take our towing mirror out of the box, and now we need to loosely adjust it to the size of our factory side mirror. Now, in order to do this, we have a hinge point here and we have two more hinge points here, so we can, again, just put the towing mirror up to our factory side mirror here. We can adjust these little wings, pivot points here until we get a good shape of the factory mirror. And we can sort of roughly adjust our mirror face here.

That look is going to be good for this installation. So now we're going to move around to the back and adjust the straps. Since our factory side mirrors on our Jeep here are a little bit taller than most. We're going to need to give some more slack here with the straps. So we're sincerely just going to put that through and pull it out from underneath.

We're going to use the second to the last one here to start out with, and just a second side as well. Well, it should work and now we can fit our towing mirrors up to the factory side mirror. We can check the adjustment with our straps here. As you can see, we have a little clip in here which is going to go around the knob on the top of the towing mirror. So it's going to stretch over like so, and then lock into place. Then we have the second one here, which is going to do the same thing, and then we can check our fit, and adjust as needed. Now it looks like we're going to have to come out a little more out away from the vehicle. So we don't have any issues with the hinge point there.Once we get that on there, you can sort of give it a wiggle to make sure these are tight and if need be, we can pull these to get a little bit of a tighter fit. So we make sure side mirror doesn't go anywhere. So these super towing mirrors actually use a bone socket design, which is going to allow us to make quite a bit of adjustments depending on the trailer and what we need to see with our towing mirrors here. Now for taller trailers, like our enclosed trailer here, we're going to want to have the mirror in a vertical up and down plane, because that's going to allow us to see the trailer best. However, if we had a wider trailer, we could simply just rotate these to the side and that's going to give us a better view of some of the larger, wider trailers. But keep in mind, we can also tilt the mirror face in if needed, outwards, up and down, just like we would our factory side mirrors and that's going to do it for the installation of our CIPA universal towing mirrors for our 2017 Jeep Wrangler unlimited.
